I just finished assembling my HDX 500 SAS. I installed both the CNC head and tail. Upon checking on the blade pitch I am getting +7, 0 and -7. Is this the normal blade pitch values. I tried everything I could to make it +11, 0 and -11 but I still get the same results. I need some advice to get my blade pitch values higher.
I take it you have maxed out the pitch range on your TX? What are then endpoints on your servos set to?
One thing that a lot of people are doing is use the bottom hole on the mainshaft. That gives the most space available for collective.
I see you're from Il also, are you local to me?

Ecaf,
My servo endpoints are set to 100%. I also tried using both the bottom and top holes on the shaft and got same results.
And on your last question I live here right in Skokie.

Oh, one thing that I did forget, what length of servo arms are you using?

What are your swash AFR (Travel) settings for pitch? In the swash menu.

My servo lenghts are the ones in the manual.
Swash pitch settings on swash menu is 65%.
Juneebear,
I think its your swash setting thats causing the problem. I just checked mine and I am getting +/-10 degrees with a setting of 75%. Im including pics to show the differences in angles between mine and yours...
Im reaching a much higher angle with my servo arm allowing more movement of the swash. Could you bump your cyclic setting and see what happens?

After further adjustments I'm getting +/-9 on my blade pitch. I change the servo arms on my cyclic and moved the ball on the 4th hole. My swash mixing is 70%. Will +/-9 degrees be acceptable values? By the way what is the range values for blade pitch?

9+- is fine. You can safely set the travel on the servos to 125% and get real close to 11 if not 12

jnngill,
You mean I can set my travel on both endpoints to 125%?
Before you do that, increase your collective ratio in your CCPM config. If your only at 70% now, bump it to 75 and see what happens.

Ecaf, be careful. If you go too high, You can run out of travel of the servo. Then, let's say you're at full collective and you start giving cyclic right. If you reach a point where one of the servos is at its full travel before your stick is full right, that servo won't be able to go further as you continue increasing cyclic. You'll wind up with really bad interactions. On the HDX500SA, I found you need 17mm servo arm minimum to get full range.
Right. I was trying to show him that adding more will add more pitch. Thats all..

Alright guys I thank you for all your tips and advice. I finally got my blade pitch @ +/-10. I used the bottom hole on the shaft and made further adjusments on my links. Lo and behold I got what I wanted. I tried hovering the heli and things went fine. Once again thanks for all your help.
Excellent. Glad its working for you...
Now go fly! Its a great day :)
