Hey Eric,
Curous on your equipment you used on the new Hornet. Bat, motor, receiver, etc.?

Hi Rob, you can go to my web site at www.ericlarsonrc.com and click on the Hornet X-3D link on the front page or go to Equipment. I have a full writeup on the X-3D there and go threw it all including a lot of pictures. Let me know if that is what you where looking for.

Great, thanks Eric. Hope you are doing well. I am going to try to make Chattanooga..... see you there ! I hope !

I don't think I will be in Chatta. I really want to go, but my sister is getting her daughter baptised so we are going to go to that. I don't get to see family much, maybe 1 or 2 times a year so we are going on vacation for a week. I am sure I will see you at another event soon though!

Sorry you won't make it, but family comes first ! This is just a hobby ! I am sure we will see you at another event.

That is really impressive Eric. I never realised the Hornet's where so agile and nimble. Nice one. :)

Eric,
Have you had any problems with using your 14MZ and the bergs RX?

Cool Heli. Just noticed that carbon blades come standard. Thats really good for the price.

Do the C/F Tail rotor blades come with it?
EricLarson

No, the carbon main blades do, but the carbon tail blades are an MS upgrade.
The plastic tails fly good. The carbon ones are just a bit lighter and result in a bit less vibration and load on the tail.

hi,eric.
thanks for your website,it offer all the information i need to build a nice heli. But i can't buy the hornet in my place,so i have to turn to T-REX.
And I can't get any helpful information about build a nice T-REX in the ALIGN BBS.
have a ever fly the T-REX?
it's so funny,Almost every T-REX fan say the T-REX can fly like your HORNET,but no one offer a bit of video to comare with.
hope you can give me some help on T-REX.

I wish I could, but i have not messed with the T-Rex at all.
I will say that probably the biggest issue that I see with the mini size heli's such as the T-Rex is the right motor and battery combo. Also the rotor blades need to be able to support the final flying weight.
There are a lot of issues with electric helicopters. Getting everything right can get costly. I would definitely look at what others are using and look at video's and try decide what is working. I spent a lot of time getting the battery, pinion, and motor combo's right on the Hornets. There was a lot of bad info out there and I spent a lot of time and money following the "wrong" information.
Sorry I can not give you better information. I just have not had much experience with that setup. I should be getting a new Stinger 3 from MS composite soon, and hope to get some motor testing done. the Stinger should use the same basic motor and battery options as the T-Rex.
Good luck! And if you come up with questions on things, I will do what I can to answer them.

hi,ERIC ,need your help agian!
http://www.align.com.tw/bb2/mpeg/TREX041103.wmv
The video above is flown by a champion on a TAIWAN T-REX 3D EVENT,he used the stock kit and a GY240 gyro ,a futaba 3107 tail servo.
when he do the PIE-DISH ,it seem the tail could not hold well(or it is beause of the manoeuvre?)
http://www.trextuning.com/vid7.wmv
The video above is flown by an unkown pilot. he used a GY401 and a HS56 tail servo ,and CNC upgrate parts. The tail could hold well in PIE-DISH,but it seem could not in BACKWARD HURRICANE.
so ,on your opinion,is it right for me to buy a stock kit and a GY401 and a HS56 ?
I am flying my honeybee 3D.Now can inverted flight in real heli,do the PIE-DISH\PIROFLIP\HURRICANE\BAWARDHURRICANE in G2 and XTR simulators.

The HS 56 is rated at .12 speed. I use the HS50 because of the .09 speed rating. The 3108 is rated at .12 also. I use a GY 240 as it works better with non digital servo's than the 401. Also the faster servo the better on the tail. You do not need much torque, just a fast servo. Also it is very important that all of the linkage and pitch mechanism is very smooth and friction free. The tail setup and smooth operation are the most important things to getting it to hold very well.
Though I am not sure about the T-rex, I have always had the best results on the hornet with the GY240 and the HS50 tail servo.

i see .so i will keep my GY240.but also i can't get hs50 in my place too. but i can get the GWS NARO+F HP servo which is rated at 0.10 speed and THUNDER TIGER C1016 0.10 too,how about these two servo?(I am using GY240 in my honeybee,i found it hold very bad ,maybe beacause of the tail motor )
another question about flight:
when i fly a elect-heli in simulator, i alway get in the trouble that seldom happen on big-heli. for example, when i do the PIE-DISH or BACKWARD HURRICANE, the tail alway could not hold well and finally the tail is point at the wrong direction (the oppusite to the flight direction)
is it beause of the tail hold or beause of the elec-heli's weight is too light?
thanks again for pantient and generous reply!

Well the sim is not very realistic in reality. Even the nitro larger heli's in there are pretty far off. The physics and stuff is better than it use to be, but lacks a lot of realism. The sim is good for the price, but it sure does not compete with the real deal :)
Those servo's may work. I have no experience with them so it will be a bit of trial and error. They should work though. The GWS servo's sometimes tend to be a bit low on quality, but I am not too sure about the Thunder Tiger one. I know the Futaba 3108 will work pretty good, I just found the speed of the HS50 to be a bit better.
I am sure that your tail problems are caused by the tail motor. The GY240 is by far the best gyro out there for non digital servo's and especially micro's. I do only use about 50% gain though. You can use more, but if you use too much your piro speed will be reduced some. At 50% gain it holds very well. I do know people that fly a lot more gain though with better holding tails, but a bit slower piro rates.
Good luck,
Eric

the pilot use a 240 and 3107(almost the same of 3108),but it seem could not hold well? beause of manoeuvre???
