hey , yeh , the hacker esc has about 2 good things going for it , the cost is real down to earth , and they like to run only in airplane mode about wide open , and can run damn near every motor out there. also , if you want a softer softstart , go max on your throttle travel , my JR goes to 150 % , and my schulze has one hell of a softstart, and I sure like gov mod ,

misskimo,
I do have the Hacker motor and ESC. I run it almost wide open all the time and it holds up fine. It does get warm though. What do you mean by 'go max on your throttle travel'? You mean over 100% at the top end? This means increasing the travel by increasing the ATV on the top end? Does the increased travel have any effect on the softstart? How does the ESC know what full throttle is anyway since the stick never gets here before you fly it.
educate me please.

hey , well I did a test with my Ion with the head off and boom , at 100% travel the softstart seamed quick in starting up , moved the travel setting to 150% and it started slower , we also did the same on my Buddies Ion and it did the same thing , he said it started softer ,
the reason why was I use to run my schulze on the throttle when fireing it up , hit mode 1 which was set at 85% throttle across the board , gov mode , mode 2 , was set at 100% ATVs was at 100 , then I put the the throttle on aux 4 , a knob on my radio because I bought a 40-160 , meaning I can run what ever headspeed I want while flying , cant do this with the hacker escs because they at at there limits as it is , well anyway I noticed that when starting up the fury with the 40-160 that it was one of the slowest starts I have ever seen , the blades never did swing back , and it was one cool sound too , it spun the blades like the real mc coy , and after the headspeed got to about 200 it had a delay of about 2 seconds and then seamed like a jet engine after that and slowly went to where I wanted it to go , so why was aux 4 slower , then thats when it hit me that the channel has a wider ATV , so thats when I came to that Idea

misskimo, thanks for tips. Will try it out Saturday morning and see what happens. Idle up is for me 97 at midstick, then up to 100 at all the other points. I played with cyclic to throttle mixing and stuff but found that by simply running the ESC wide open, it runs much better. May be time to try a schulze, if they only would become affordable...

moved the travel setting to 150%
ATV or End point right?
Great Tip Tony!!

ATV
also , I run gov mode on my schulze , so I heard that the hacker esc doesnt like gov mode, cant keep up , maybe this might fix it , lets see if I understand this , my schulze has 256 steps so if you have the ATV at 100 % that means that the motor while spooling up does 2.56 steps to 1% of the throttle, thats why you can here the steps when not in softstart mode , but you put your throttle travel at 150% then the motor jumps up 1.706666 steps per 1 % of the throttle . Ill call Chris and ask him , hes a electrical engineer, but it does sound good huh?
