Has anyone tried re-soldering the motor protectors on the new CX-2 motors in series with the Xtreme 180 motors?

I tried re-soldering mine last night when I installed my new motors. The helicopter powered up and hovered fine at first, but the longer I hovered it, the more it wanted to rotate clockwise. By the time I set it down, I had almost full left rudder trying to keep it straight. I removed the canopy and felt of the protector on the lower blade motor, and it felt warm. After letting it cool a minute or two (without unplugging the battery), It hovered fine again before repeating the same routine again.

I'm thinking that the extreme 180 motors pull to much current for these protection devices, but I'm a bit nervous about damaging my 3 in 1 without them.

I like to know too.. I just order the xtreme180 and also order the PTC so I can plugin instead of solder it.

Motor protectors?

All I did when I received mine is do the break-in with a AA battery slapped the heat sink on and screwed them down. It's been a while since they have been on and all seems fine. What exactly are these motor protectors??

The protectors are the two little disc shaped devices soldered at the positive motor terminal on newer cx2's. I think only the ones with the 3 in 1 contoller and AR6100 have them. They are like auot-resetting fuses which get hot and open the circuit in a motor cannot spin (such as in a crash) to protect the 3 in 1 unit.

Tonight I removed the circuit protectors and my problem went away. I would have preferred the greater degree of protection for my 3 in 1 unit, but I really like the perfomance of the Xtreme motors.

interesting.. I will get my motor today or next day. I have to see how well it will work without the protection too.. I'm not truely good at it so I probably need to protection from burning but I'm good a throttle down when crash happens ...
