I am new to r/c helis and would like to get a new battery for my Honey bee king 2. Right now i have the stock 20A ESC and am wondering if I will need to get a new one to be able to handle a battery such as 11.1v 2200 mAH 25C. If i will, then what size ESC will i need to get and is there an easy way to figure out which esc and battery will work together? i also was wondering about the max output for the battery or the max sustain. does this play a part in which esc to get?
Any info would be great. thanks

Nope, the motor will only draw what it needs. As long as you aren't increasing the voltage by much, the system will draw the same amps, no matter what the pack is capable of supplying.
OK, doing a quick search (in the furture it would be helpful to specific what pack the heli came with), the HBK2 comes with a 3S lipo, so no changes needed. But the 2200 pack may be a bit big and heavy for that heli, as it comes witha 1000 mAH. And the rotor size is smaller than a Trex 450. I would look at 1320 to 1500 sized packs.
Now, if the heli was designed to fly on a 8 cell NiMH pack, and you go to a 3S lipo, then you need to change the pinion gear (one on the motor) to a smaller one to keep from overspeeding the head and to reduce the amp draw.
On the Blade CP the pinion went down two teeh for NiMH to Lipo conversion, then back up one for a higher power setup. So drop the pinion 1 - 2 teeth would be close.

I have a honey bee king V1 which is same size and weight as the V2, the only difference between the two being a belt tail vs shaft drive in the v1.
Mine came with a brushed motor, 20 amp controller and a three cell 1000 mah lipo.
A 2200 lipo is far to big for this heli. won't physically fit and is also too heavy.
what you need is a maximum of 1300-1350 three cell lipo on the stock setup. you won't need a different ESC with this battery.

Glad to help
here's the battery I use in mine

there is also a 20C version of this battery on their site.
after your brushed motor wears out this brushless motor works well

you would need a new brushless ESC with this motor. 20-25 amp should be fine.

a really good lipo that should fit in the stock spot without mods is the thunderpower 3s 1320mah. i got two of those for my axe cp back in august and they are awesome. now that i don't fly the axe anymore, i use them in parallel on my mx450 for damn near 10 minute flights.

also, i've heard some really horrible things about those mega power lipos. cheap packs are very enticing, but usually don't last more then a few cycles before puffing. hell, i admit that those cheap no name packs on ebay look great for the price, but after thinking about it i'll not trust any cheap battery on my machines that i have so much time and $ invested in.

don't know about any other cheap packs but the three megas I have were first flown more than a year ago and are still going strong. not a problem from what I've seen. Haven't kept track of how many, but lots and lots of cycles. flew two of 'em again yesterday. no flame intended but that's not hearsay.
now,. my son has puffed some lipos, but then his favorite saying is "they make 'em every day" as he handles it by the wires pulling it out of the airframe after 6 minutes at full bore.

I regularly use the 2200 mah lipo in my HBK2, fits just fine inside the canopy and plenty of power for liftoff etc. Doubled my flying times using the 3900 kv motor and 25 a controler
