Here is a picture of the flybar lock that I made for the Trex600. It can be made from aluminum also, I just happen to have carbon fiber laying around so the one in the picture is carbon. Also if you make it from carbon it will not get bent in you hobby box. I like this design because it can be used at the field in the wind and will not slip. Also you are able to rotate the head without loosing your setting. The two notches are so the grips will clear at full positive pitch, I made this on a CNC router, I might cut a few more if anyone is interested.

Thanks. I actually use the head button on my machines, I just remove it for set-up.

I've given up on head buttons - they cause too much damage in crashes !

It is not the head button that causes damage, it is the damn flying field. By that I mean the ground at the field. .........lol

Mike,

If the cost are reasonable, I will get one from you. Make setting up a lot faster

very nice idea. I don't have a T600 but I'll look on how I could do something similar on mines :)

I would guess 10-15 dollars would be fair. I have not priced carbon fiber lately but I have enough of the 2.5mm carbon to make at least 10 or so. Please PM for more info.

it looks as if your using ball link ends around the flybar.. how are you getting those around the flybar w/o having to remove the flybar paddles.

Sometime a picture really is worth a thousand words. Basicly it just pushes on the top of the flybar on both sides equally.

ahh ok.. i was thinking you had some sort of split in the ball link end..

Have any of you used the newer style Align rotor holder that has a flybar lock in it? Is it me, or does it seem to lock it at a slight angle?!

Either way, this looks like a good idea! PM'ing now! :D

Billybuck, no problem. That is why I posted it. The idea works on almost any heli with a head button. The holes that the threadded rods go through are 112mm apart, then there is a hole in the middle. I make the body of the tool 20mm wide so it is stiff. Just use 3mm threadded rod and rocket city ball links, as they make the ball links in 4-40 size so they will thread on the 3mm rod. that is about it in a nut shell.

Hi Guys, im new at the Heli scene, please tell me what the Flybar lock is for?

When you set pitch of the blades the flybar needs to be at right angle to the mast as flybar movement affects pitch - you don't have to lock it - it's not difficult to eyeball it but a simple flybar lock as described here that's quick to apply and remove is a bonus.

Awesome! that little thing makes alot of sense. Seen guys battle a bit with the flybar moving all the time while setting the pitch. Nice idea!

Thanks guys. For those of you that have expressed interest in the flybar lock, I have all of the stuff to make about 10 or so. I had trouble finding 3mm threaded rod. I also had trouble finding the 4-40 ball links from Rocket City as they are out of bussiness. So I will be using 2-56 threaded rod and Align ball links with a 1.5mm carbon plate. I should have these ready in a day or two.
