well the weather here in NE Ohio, has been pretty bad so the Hurri just sits on the shelf! yea it was 65 degrees the last 2 days but with 40+mph winds. Anyhow guys here is my question. I want to get some better flight times without looseing much performance , but larger Lipo's are out of the question so looking for the best route to take with my A123's
My setup is plastic frame with metal head rcp 500 blades
Revco gearing. 21t pinion
RCP 1000w 1100kv motor H/18/11 (now discontinued at readyheli)
OOH and my throttle curve is set to flat 100%
on 6s 2500 lipo performance rocks and i get just over 4 minutes of mild 3d,
on 7s A123 performance is ok, not nearly as good as in 6s lipo. flight time stay the same
on 8s A123 performance is ballistic, better then the 6s lipo, I havenot yet really checked flight time, my timmer is set at 4 minutes!! but I have power left.
so what will give the best efficency change?
now my options are to 1, regear for 7s A123 to get the head speed up,but I beleive this will lesson the flight time, or 2, maybe regear for 8-10s A123. If I regear 8s I can probalby lower my throttle curve as well. so how much of a gear change will I likely need and has anyone really played with throttle curves to deterime efficiency?
obviously with a 21t pinion and a flat 100% curve at full pitch I am pulling less amps then if I go up 1 or 2 teeth, but I also assume at hover I will be pulling less amps if I go up 1 or 2 teeth and lower my throttle curve to 70% or so? is this assumption right? If I go 8s A123 with my current setup my head speed can be dropped, I have not done this yet do to bad weather and it is just really fun to fly with so much pop!
so Guru's whats your advice? and experiences
