I read the start of a post somewhere(cant find it now)saying that it could be possible to run the 500 on 3 cell packs with correct gearing and headspeed.
I think the guy said it would be a ideal trainer/beginner.I think he compared it to a early Voyager heli from years back.Has anyone seen this thread or got any comments on 3 cell use.
Seems ideal to start on 3 cell the ,i think 10 min flight times were mentioned then up the cells when flying skills improve.

I believe 4s is the bare minimum

Pretty sure anyone talking about 3S means two 3S packs in series thus 6S.
3S 11.1V aint going to work.

Finless ran a Lepton on 3S - do a search and see what comes up.

(Man you're fast Bob! You posted quicker than me!)

I agree with you. His post said 3 cell packs, not two 3 cell packs, so it was hard to get what he meant

Yes I ran a Lepton on 3S2P but with a VERY different motor and gearing that the Trex500 has available. If you wanted to run 3S you will be buying a new motor and working out what KV and pinion.
The Lapton was a Hyperion 3025-8 and 26T pinion.
