Put the first three tanks through it today. So far impressed that its very easy and predictable to tune. Still pretty rich and the 30 degree temps make me leary to lean it too much till maybe a 40 degree day.

Hey Bill,
What are you running it in, and what is the blade size ( 620) if it's a titan?
Thanks Chris

Its in a 600n with 600 Radix. I'm a Gohbee rep and the 620's they have have been calling my name and I've been thinking giving them a try. This new engine might be a great combo!

Gohbee making a 600n? I thought it was Stinger 50

Are you being serious? Actually after the Phazor (600 electric) is released the next will be the Stinger 600. Till then, I've been waiting on the Phasor to be released to pick one up and then on to the newer style nitro. The new equipment is going to be night and day to the older style stuff. In the mean time, the 600n has been a surrogate of sorts!!

Yes I am being serious. I know David and Jody, I know some of the things they have in the works. Just didn't realize they had a model flying they called the 600n.
I surely wouldn't think a rep would be flying a different brand.

David is well aware, also well aware that I've been anxiously awaiting the new stuff. Anymore questions, maybe related to the topic?

Ok , three more flights today. About 42 degrees today. Leaned it out 2 3/4 on main and about 90 degrees leaner than factory setting (instructions say factory idle setting is when barrel is flush with carb). This engine is really starting to come into its own. Its making boatloads of power and is hard to bog even with it still rich (I do believe, still taking it slow). I'm looking to put a carbsmart on it to see how that does and to verify my settings. I can tell you though its performing quite well and I think I'd be having less apprehension about my settings if it was warmer outside. The fan on this 600N is almost to efficient damn near. I just feel like using a little caution cuz overly rich aint good, but not as bad as a lean run. Anyones thoughts are welcome.

Hi Bill,
Do you have a gov on that heli? I heard that the carb is sensitive and responds to throttle movements real fast and it is recommended to use a gov. I have not used a gov, but if needed, I will. Putting mine in this weekend and hopefully breaking it in soon after that. It's been cold here as well.
Thanks
Chris

I use Multigovs and engage the gov in idle up, and have it off in normal. Most of the "tuning" is with the gov off to see how it reacts through the range. Governors can mask a bad mixture by just advancing throttle in a lean or overly rich condition.

Well 7 more tanks today. First day out with carbsmart.I knew I was rich so I leaned it out by a 1/4 turn to start and turned the idle mixture back to stock. That means the main was set at 2 3/8 out. Flew the heli and it just came to life. After some hard 3d brought it into side in hover and the carbsmart was still in full lean position, and that with the temp set at 100C!!! So adjusted needle 1/4 turn so now I'm at 2 turns out. Flew it, hard 3d and pulled into side in hover, carbsmart was dead in the middle. More flights same results. The motor is strong, very strong. Even when you bog the head with constant, piroing tic-tocs it pulls and pulls and pulls somemore. The peak power is very similar to the hyper, but it will keep pulling long after I would have had to let off the hyper. Very impressed, with the Redline, and the carbsmart.

Well, put four more tanks on the Redline yesterday. Temps were back down into the high 30's-low 40's. Ran the living snot out of it. This thing is making incredible power, I mean just awesome. Couple of guys at the field actually approached me to ask what was in it, it was that noticeable. Now the carbsmart was set on a high 50's day and I did notice that it never left the full lean position even with it set at 100C. The power was there, all the time, when I wanted it. When I brought it in, quickly, I might add when I do this, to a side in hover ONE time during the day the carbsmart was straight up and down, right where I originally set it. From everything Dino has said this engine likes higher RPMs and I have been running at 2100 H/S on the Multigov. I am nothing but happy with this motor.

Hey Bill, what plug are you using in your redline..Have you tried an OS #8 or are you using the stock R3, which are not easy to get right now..Thanks

I'm still using the stock, but if/when that goes out i'm going to try an Enya3, but till then cant report anything.

I can confirm everything WJackson has said. I am running the carb smart and the Redline 53. I set the carb smart at 90 degrees (no lights) and the gain a 75% and did not see it move the needle at all with 60 degree ambient in Texas and 2 1/2 turns out. I tached the head at 1950.

Next weekend I am going to 2 turns out to see if I can get it to work the CarbSmart!!!!!

cheers got one from skyline in the end. its in my 600n, and its had about four tanks and is set at about 2 1/2 turns out on the main and stock on mix. I have been having a glitch thing going on with the 600n so not being able to fly all out. not sure if it is the battery dropping down in volts and make the fail safe kick in or bad signal. but the engine suddenly drops the idle for two or three seconds and then comes back. also the gyro is doing the same. when I piro it will go round but will stop half a turn too far then it will not work t all for a few seconds then it will come back and all will be fine. when I have sorted this out I can continue with the red lines set up.

Im by no means a hard 3d pilot, but i have definately noticed the power improvements over the hyper on my redline. i picked it up after the wrong bearing set came in for my hyper and i got frustrated. im not using a carbsmart, and ive noticed tuning is a bit different. when this engine is tuned right, i can hold my finger on the backplate indefinately, and after pinching the fuel line , it runs for about 7 or 8 seconds. any leaner, and it starts kicking a bit. i love it compared to my hyper.

I have got the TT53 in a R50SE. It directly replaced the TT50.
It's run on the stock TT muffler for the TT50 and works just fine.
Just like the TT50, it takes 4~5 tanks at least before the engine starts to settle down on the needles.
It loves to rev but still has plenty of torque at low rpm.
So, you can use it as a direct replacement for your TT50 using the same muffler and plastic fan and you will get a noticable performance improvement. Just up the revs compared to your old TT50.
