trying to determine what my next heli will be and a strong possibility is a MA spectra G. with the higher power engines available from Toxic, etc. a gasser appears to have benefits of the nitro helis power wise without the smoke, mess, expensive fuel, high fuel consumption, and all the field starting stuff. my only consern is the higher vibration from this type of powerplant. how are you guys dealing with this and how big of an issue is it? thanks

You do your best to minimize them, such as have the motor balanced by a professional, balance other parts and such. You use high quality equipment and servos to withstand the vibrations, and you go fly! Sure a gasser is going to vibrate more than an electric, but over time you learn the weak points and you address them accordingly. It certainly can be done and alot of fun can be had, just check out my signature for a recent flight count on mine!

thanks for the encouraging feedback. what kind of flight times (3d) can be expected using 1 or 2 tanks with the Spectra? thanks again

Do not use the stock tank or the two tank setup. Instead put a dubro 16oz tank in the front, see my gallery. The stock tank is too small (8oz) and duel tanks is too much plumbing, better to go with one.
With the 16oz tank you can do a 15 minute 3D flight with about 1/4 tank in reserve with a G26. If you run the 231 motor, it will probably be 1/3 tank reserve and you can probably use a 14oz dubro tank to save a couple of ounces and still end up with a 1/4 tank reserve.
The machine 3d's really well and flies like its on rails. I fly mine in the 1650 to 1750 head speed in idle up 1 and 2 with a G26 motor. If you're using a 231 I think the stock GR is optimized for 1800 head speed which I would expect you would program in idle up 2 and use slower speeds for idle up 1 and normal, like 1680 and 1560 for example.
You will really like it I'm sure. If you need anything else just let us know!

For some reason I can't find my gallery. Not sure if HF did away with them or what. So in regards to "see my gallery" comment above, I guess I should rephrase it to say see my homepage. I have some photos there of the Spectra-g in the Spectra-g tab that show the fuel tank.
Sorry about that, unless I'm lost here I just can't the galleries....
