Hey all!
I got my new batteries (CellPro 3s x2) yesterday, charged them up and went to the park this morning to fly my B400 with all 3 batteries in tow. First time I had multiple batteries at my disposal.
Finished re-wiring last night (Deans for the batteries and wrap for the huge GY401 wires etc.) and was looking forward to get back in the air. After my last crash I also decided to tweak the tail setup a little and check the bird over completely, so I can take to the field with confidence again.
Well, beautiful California morning today and I had a great time flying. Managed to deplete all three packs without any major incident or unplanned landings. Got a little squirrly some times, but recovered every single time.
Todays program? One full pack hovering. All orientations, but mainly "tail-in". The other two packs concentrating on "smoothing" out my FF, figure 8's etc. Somehow I'm MUCH smoother doing figure 8's on the sim than in "real life". But I'll chalk that off to inexperience for now. Also did a few flips and even managed to hover inverted for a little bit. Very nice. I'd like to try a roll or two some time, but can't muster up the guts just yet.
The new batteries do have a very noticeably longer flight time than the E-Flite pack, which is very nice.
As for the B400? I really enjoyed it today! The blades are a little off-track (I can see it when hovering). But somehow it doesn't affect the flying much. There's no real vibrations and controlling it "feels" just fine. I'll try to tweak the tracking tomorrow, but I'm not too worried about it.
I dialed the Gyro gain down quite a bit, because it was "kicking" a little after piro's. Now it feels very locked without any extra moves when you're coming out of a piro.
The B400 is now so solid and trimmed that I managed to briefly leave either stick alone for a few seconds without the heli going anywhere - very nice!
I had to add about 2-clicks backwards trim. I think that's because of the 3400G tail servo maybe. The CellPro batteries are very light, that doesn't help things either :D. But I'm not going to loose any sleep over this.
Overall, I'm really enjoying this heli!
Of course I will crash it immediately after this post, but I digress... ;)
