Just got back from the AMA convention and just had to try out my new 3026-1210KV motor on my 8S setup. Mind you I actually just got blades too, so I really have not had the chance to fly this thing. I put a 16tooth pinion on it and set my curves to 70%, 80%, 90%....I only hovered it and did a little pitch pumping. At 70% my headspeed was about 2650, at 80% it went to 2850, at 90% the guage read 3190 which is it's max reading, so I don't know how high it went. I did try 100% and it was screaming. Obiously wayyy too much pinion for me. After using the darkhorse calculator ( I am not very good at it). I figured that at 100% I could have been close to 3700.....wooohooo...I did have an Eagletree on it. I actually hovered for a total of about 4.5 minutes flipping through the 3 different headspeeds, and doing some solid pitch pumping at 70% and it did not even flinch let alone bog. I think I am going to try to gear it down somewhere between 2700-3000....Probably going to drop all the way down to a 13tooth on my next or first real flight, because I want to run it at 100%. Batteries were a tad warm, motor was ice cold and so was my CC45HV. I actually have not checked my pitch, but it's completely maxed out in both directions, and man this thing did not bog at all at 70%/2650HS. The eagletree showed a max amp of 39amps and an average of 7 although I did land a couple times. For 4.5 minutes of hovering and some pitch pumping I pulled 1200mah out of my 2-4S2100TP's....Oh and the Scorpion is about 20grams lighter than the align. I picked up the 1400KV for a buddy who is planning on trying it out tomorrow on 14tooth 6S2500FP's...I think I am really gonna like this setup....

I'm looking to get one of that version (1400kv) as well. Seems to be the rated highest amount of wattage out of the series:

any particular reason why you picked up the 1400kv instead of the 1600kv? i thought the stock motor was 1600kv.

Yep, and from their testing, they say it's the most efficient of the 4 versions.

Because I can run both 6s with 16T pinion or 8s with 12T pinion.

I got the 1900Kv to run on 5s. I will report back tomorrow.

I was hoping to drive down this morning and pick up the 3026-1210 for my Logo 500 but that didn't happen.:( It looks like the max power is 1365 W but I thought it was supposed to be more like 1500+ W.

The test results will be good to see but difficult to compare since the T500 is smaller than the Logo500 and swings ~430mm blades vs 550+mm.

Do these have 5mm shafts?
Whats the deal with the collar on the shaft?
Do they come apart that easily?

So from what it looks like...efficency comes from the Motor Resistance?

Yes, they have a 5mm shaft. Also the reason for the collar on the shaft is so the motor CAN doesn't slide down (as with outrunner motors), other model outrunners have c clips instead, like the Scorpion motors for the 450.

Thanks.

Kevin,

By calculating Headspeed the 15 tooth on the 1400kv would be in line with the stock and 13tooth on 6S. Are you running a Jazz esc or something and going to govern it back on the 16 tooth or what is your reasoning behind 16 tooth on the 1400kv Scorpion.

Lucien is supposed to send me one of these motors for a project so I am curious on this....

I think, because they can pack more copper in the stator for this version, makes it more powerfull and efficent (that's why it weighs a little more).

Do they come apart that easily?

Remove the collar and it comes out easy.

I have both pinions so I'll try both. also installing magnet for RPM sensor so I can get a data log.

I had to grind some flats because the one that's on there is not at the right location.

Not sure about the 3020 version, it looks smaller?

Those on rchover appear to have the "old style" integral fans. Are they the "new" ones with old pictures, or did I miss something?

That 3020 motor only has a kv of 812. I don't think either motor is the correct one for the Trex 500. Someone may want to give them a call and get this straight before people purchase these motors and get pissed off.
