My flying buddies Raptor will hover fine but the moment he touches the cyclic to put it in motion, the blades go way outta track. If he lands and spools down and then lifts off again its fine. But the moment he touches the cyclic out they go. I'm not talking out of track by a blade thickness, I'm talking an inch or so. We have been over the head several times. The spindle and main shaft are straight, new and well lubed dampeners, blades are balanced, flybar is straight. Were cluless. Any ideas?

I had a problem not nearly as sevear as you but it ended up being a paddle going out of alignment. It was a type that used only set screws to clamp it to the flybar and would move on it's own slightly. It was hard to find because on the ground it would be lined up, just hapened to bump it during cleaning and found it would wiggle. I since replaced with MAH Flybar 3D Paddles. They clamp on like the chuck in a drill and you can add set screws. These aren't going anywhere.
Here is a link for where you can get them http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=807220

Make sure the dampers are well lubed, it may help. As well, I've read that some people experience a bit of a "wear-in" time with dampers.

If the thrust bearings are installed correctly then check for any binding in either the washout arms or the mixers. Also I've seen problems when screws that are two long are used in mounting the mixers.

I have also seen an issue where the flybar paddles were on backwards that caused a similar issue. would spool up and hover ok but as soon as the cyclic was touched it went crazy. I know it sounds simple but sometimes we overlook the simple things.

If heli has been crashed in the past I would also check for bent ball link screws.
