well guys last night i made a start on building up my HV CF hurricane 550 and amongst the numerous upgrade parts i have for the build was the helidirect elevator arm upgrade
http://www.helidirect.com/images/imagecache/ugk29.jpg

as everything else in the head and control system was going to be alu i thought i'd get this part too but unfortunately during the build i found out that this part isn't compatible with the gaui plastic elevator lever, the gaui metal elevator lever or the microheli metal elevator lever due to the fact that where the elevator lever fits into the arm the hole in the helidirect elevator arm is far too small  (i'll post some pics this evening to show exactly what i'm talking about) now as i already have the microheli elevator lever and the fact that i don't like how small and shallow the contact area is on the connection between the helidirect lever and arm i wont be buying the helidirect lever so this part is now useless to me. hopefully when my upgraded tail set finally arrives from helidirect it's fully compatible with my hurricane!

Did you by the helidirect Elevator Alum arm instead of the Gaui Alum Elevator arm? maybe this is why things don't match or pair will.

I have both the Helidirect Elevator arm and the Elevator lever , you need to use both when it works like a charm, the part from GAUI has a rectangular hole and the HDX part is rectangular thats why it do not fit.

Perfect fit to the new Rotorksz 550 frame, thats an asum one best one out there by fare, when second i will recomend the one from xmseller

Cheers

if you read my post i clearly state that i have both the gaui and microheli aluminium levers, and the reason i wont buy the helidirect arm is quite simple, i don't think there is enough of an interface between the elevator lever and the elevator arm, plus it has the silly offset see my pics for my reasons ;)

helidirect arm

microheli lever (gaui alu and plastic lever have exactly the same dimensions)

anyway now it seems that helidirect have updated this items page on their website to indicate that it is not compaitble with the gaui standard for these parts and that you need to buy the helidirect lever as well as the arm upgrade for it to work on the hurricane 550. if only they had done this in the begining i wouldn't have had this problem!

well i know why it doesn't fit, my point was that helidirect didn't make this clear innitially on their website, and more to the point i don't see why cncheli made these changes when they were supposedly making upgrades for the hurricane 550? i mean microheli managed to do it the right way why couldn't cncheli?

the rotorworkz frame does look nice but as for the cnc heli version it's just a complete rip off of the gaui frame

If the arm is aluminum, I wouldn't be concerned about the sidewall thickness.

But it is a bummer that now you have to order another part if you want it to work.

Did you ask them about returning the things that don't fit?

Phil,

Does the Microheli CNC elevator lever have the offsets or is it straight ? It looks really funy but I can't be bothered with offsets.

Cheers,
Mike.

Phil,

I am sorry that I didn't update the information earlier. The aluminum cnc elevator arm is supposed to work with this cnc aluminum elevator lever

For those who bought only the cnc elevator arm, please contact me.

mike unfortunately the microheli elevator lever has the offset (as does the cnc helicopter one), i never really thought about it when i saw the pictures whilst ordering it (or i wouldn't have) so i wont be using it, as like you i can't be a**ed with the offsets lol. on the other hand the pitch/aileron levers are really nice and look good when fitted, i just wish i waited till the silver ones were in stock as the blue looks kinda out of place on my HV setup lol

Thanks Phil,

Yeah - I like the look of the pitch / alieron as well - if they are straight across I might well have to invest to "pimp my heli" :) .

Cheers,
Mike.

thankfully they can be setup with the offset or straight, just like the gaui plastic links  i've attached a pic of them on my CF frame :)

Looking good - as you say the silver might suit the CF better

That's what happens when you try to help someone half awake and half a sleep. You skip the important part of the whole problem. :)

I was looking on buying that part but now I know that I have to get right part to go with it.
Thanks

I also noticed that your swash looks grey instead of black like mine. Am I seeing the picture right?

no worries :D, in fact i did a similar thing just a few days back lol :P

steve now has it clearly showing on the upgrade arms webpage that you need to buy the lever to match it, so hopefully no one else will come across this problem

i'm not sure about the colour, i'll check when i get home tonight but iirc they are a light grey colour not black?
