Currently I'm running the JR7202 and want to update to the DX7 but don't want to jump too soon if a new model is in the works. 7 channels will be fine but I don't want to miss the next "must have" feature. While digging around looking for that next big feature, I came across news about Spektrum debuting "Quick Connect" at the AMA show to enable all their RXs to reboot faster on a voltage drop. Looks like I'll wait for it to become available on the AR7000.

Here is the news from RCHelimag but Spektrum doesn't show it on their site yet.

Spektrum debuts Quick Connect to address voltage drop concerns
Posted on Monday January 14, 2008 by AaronS
At the AMA Convention here in Ontario last weekend, Spektrum announced they have a new feature called Quick Connect, which will address voltage drop concerns. Current Spektrum systems will take up to several seconds to reconnect after a low voltage spike below 3.5 volts. With Quick Connect, the receiver reconnects virtually instantly as soon as the voltage recovers. This feature can already be found in the JR 921 which comes with the X9303. The new AR 9100 will include Quick Connect, and eventually, all Spektrum DSM2 products will be updated with Quick Connect.

It looks like RCHelimag listed the 'bad' date in one thread but the correct one in another ( just copy and pasted ). I'll change the original post to the correct date.

Sounds like SOP ( Standard Operating Procedure) LOL

Maybe it's just me, but I lost all interest in any mag after Al Gore invented the interweb. I guess I just lost my apetite for information that's a month and a half old, not responsive to my specific questions or interests, and just one person's take. :dontknow

Yep, big news. Quick Connect went into production July 2007 according to the DX6i manual.

And all my Rxes, bought from late Oct to late Dec relink very quickly.

And I talked to Horizon a couple of weeks ago, and older Rxes can be updated to Quick Connect, the tech said that there was a slight hardware mod, so they have to go in. Under warranty the work would be free, but you may have to pay return shipping.

Good to know this is on the newer RXs, maybe I'll go ahead and get the DX7 then... unless a new Spektrum model is about to come out???

From digging around the various threads, it looks like this "Quick Connect" feature was only quietly introduced so as not to admit their was a problem. Is that correct? And if so, why was it being "announced" at the show? There seems to be no news of this on either JR, Spektrum, or HorizonHobby's sites.

I wonder if there's a way to tell if a given module has this feature or not. Too bad there's not a 1.3 sticker for it...

I've got a couple where I can't remember the purchase date, let alone know how long it sat on the store's shelf before I bought it.

I tested mine. Just remove power and replace while watching the LED. Mine all relink almost instantly, most of the time.
