No the old grips were 4m just drill them out with a 5m or something close to it. The'll be fine I've had to do it myself.

There must still be some 4m grips floating around. Tim has gone to the new 5m bolts on all new stuff. The older machines had the 4m.

Hello

What about drilling the blades to 5mm. I have 4 sets of 14/4 V-blades and two stratus kits on the way. I will either need to drill the blade holes or buy new blades. The brass sleeves in the blades are pretty thick so I can probably drill them.

the brass inserts come out if you call Vic they can send you the 5m inserts without drilling. be best.

They just push out NOT real easy but they are removable.

I don't know about drilling them unless you have a press and can get them straight.

As for the 4mm or 5mm hole in the blade grips. It would depend on which blade grip you ordered.

part # 0317 Main Rotor Blade Mount This one has 4mm hole in the grip

part # 120-18 Main Blade Mount - M5 Blade Bolt This one has 5mm hole in grip

I have drilled out the 4mm blade bushings to 5mm with a hand drill and couple of numbered bits. Seen this done many times at fun flys with no problems. Just go slow and use some oil to keep it cool. Your only removing a half millimeter of material. Also measure the shank of the blade bolt that is going thru the blades. The 5mm bolts are not really 5mm in diameter. You do not want the hole in the blade to be too big. You want the bolt to slide thru it easy but no slop.

is it okay to have the hole in the grip a little big? not extremely tight like the blade.

thanks

You want the hole in the grip to virtually be a press fit for the bolt to go thru. There should be some resistance when pushing the bolt thru the hole in grips. I would only want the hole in the grip to be maybe .002 larger than the diameter of the shank of the bolt. Same goes for the hole in the blade, thou the blade hole can be a few thousands more larger than the diameter of the bolt.

what size bit is good to use?

Use a #8 bit. It's slightly larger than 5mm. 5mm = .1968" and the #8 bit is .1990". 13/64 is the next fractional bit size at .2031". That is probably a little too big.

Hello

If the brass sleeves are removeable I could chuck them in my Sherline (lathe) and get them perfectly straight. I will call Vic on Monday
and see what he says.
