So flight number 3 didn't go so well.

I took it to the garage at work, and there were just too many people still around, so I brought it back home. Figured I'd tool around in the backyard a little bit, but decided there was too much snow as the heli just kept sinking in, and the tail rotor wouldn't spin up properly.

So I picked it up, and went to unplug the battery, but I was still holding the tx in my other hand, and hit the throttle accidentally. The head obeyed and spun up immediately. I scrambled for the throttle on the tx, but the heli didn't obey. I quickly adjusted by grip on the heli to grab it by the landing gear instead of the tail where the blades were whacking my knuckles repeatedly, and unplugged the battery.

Now I'm left with a bloody hand, a bruised ego (my nextdoor neighbor was apparently watching the whole thing from the back window), and a broken heli. :(

Lesson learned. Set the tx down THEN unplug the heli. Ahh well.. Off to buy more parts tomorrow.

No, turn ON Throttle Hold, THEN set down the Tx, away from where you are (arms length) so you don't bump it, THEN unplug the heli.

I would, except that the tx that comes with the cp pro doesn't have a throttle hold.

True, so you need to get anotehr Tx and put your CP on that. And it will even fly MUCH better when on a good Tx and setup properly.

Mine went from the stock Tx, to a Hitec Eclipse 7, to a JR XP9303 to a JR X9303.:)

Of course that assumes that I won't be broke and homeless with the cost of repairs on the heli, let alone buying a new tx...

Ack! I hit the throttle on my CX2 once and had it try to eat my arm. Luckily those plastic blades weren't going full tilt or I might be bleeding also. Also luckily it wasn't my Trex (however I do have throttle hold on that one and use it religiously)

Yeah, I learned pretty quick that the Tx needs to be set aside whilst unplugging batteries.

Just a thought, but I did see some guy with a "throttle hold" set up on his cheap transmitter. It was a rubber band wrapped around the antenna and then pulled underneath to wrap the other end around the throttle stick. Cheap and relatively effective.

Hey, that's a good idea! Soon as I have it back up and running I think I'll do that. Thanks for the suggestion.
