Attaching Training Gear

I'm using dowel and ball training gear which I attached to the plane with tie wraps. I have found it awkward to transport and work on the heli with the gear attached so I cut off the tie wraps and have been using 3/8" velcro straps. About 10 flights and seems to work OK with no slippage.

When I was using training gear I just bought a huge bag of the large zip ties from Wal-Mart and just cut them off when I was done.
