View Full Version : Spartan/9257 vs GY 611/9257

Is there a performance difference? If I have to change the pulse width on my 611 to match the 9257, how would this differ if I were to use it with a Spartan? The reason I ask, is my tail is a tad heavy with the 9256, and I am considering a 9257...

I think performance will be pretty damn close based on using a Spartan and a 611. But the 611 with the AMP box and sensor and extra wiring is a LOT heavier than the Spartan. Because of that I prefer the Spartan on this heli.

Yea, Secret Menu sounds more... well for lack of better words, Secret. But if you know about it, well I guess it's not much of a secret menu.

Most people DON'T know about it and it is actually a little hard to find the info about accessing it on the web... So seems pretty secret to me ;)
I believe it was Angelos that first revealed this hidden menu to people?

Actually, the secret menu was already known for the GY601 but people got disappointed when the GY611 showed BAD OPR. I only discovered that you had to press another two buttons after that. Somehow the BAD OPR message didn't make any sense to me. Why would someone put it in the software if there was no need for it! So I started trying the obvious key combinations and voilà! That must be at least 2-3 years ago!

Hey Angelos, I'm trying to look for one of your DS760 gyro and can't find them in-stock anywhere? Come on, crank them out!

what is the secret code to getting into and out of the hidden menu?
okay done little google and i got it:
Press Func+ and Func- simultaneously like you do with the GY502/601. The gyro will display “BAD OPR.” Don’t be put off by the message… now press Data+ and Data- simultaneously and you are in.
go into the advance menu and change the pulse width to wide and then the servo will work fine.
:)
i will try 9257 with my 500, save the 9256 for my 600 with spartan

If you guys are going to screw with this menu, just be careful you dont change any other values in there. Not going to be a fun day if you bump something by accident, you might get a surprise next time you lift off.

Ok, I picked up a 9257 today, changed my 611 and through it up in the air....All I can say is that other than lowering the gain 4 points, the tail was as rock solid as the 9256. I could not tell the difference...It held rock solid in fast inverted backward flight...The heli balances much better now. Almost a tad on the nose, but mostly even. The tail still drops a tad in inverted hovering, but it's not much at all compared to before....This is a great setup for those of you who have a 601/611 or cannot find a Spartan....I am very happy....love this thing.....

Where did you put the gyro to get it nose heavy? Most people with 9257 are seeing it tail heavy at least with 2200ma packs.

I have all my electronics up front including the gyro and amp. I am running an 8S setup though and my packs weigh 370 grams. I really would not call it nose heavy, it's just about perfect. I have a set of 2 4S FP 2170's that are about 444 grams so they make it just ever so slightly nose heavy, but it really does not effect flight at all...This heli rocks...I flew 4 packs today for 4.5 minutes putting back just under 1100mah, running the head at 2880 on a Scorpion 3026 1210, 13tooth, 12 degrees pitch and cyclic and this thing won't bog at all. It's also the fastest rolling heli I have ever had. The performance is much better and faster than my 450 4S with 3500 on the head....

nice looking setup. I like that your only out 1100mah after 4 mins. One could assume you vould get 5-5 1/2 with lots of room on the 80% rule.
Maby with a 9254 (i got one on hand) it would balance out again ?
