You really should consider the 13tooth at 90%...like I mentioned in another post The power is the same with my HS at 2910, and I get a solid 4.5 minutes, sometimes pushing it to 5, and I have yet to put back more than 1600mah....The amp draw is lower also and everything is more efficient running it at 90% instead of in the 70's. I have over 140 flights running this configuration....on a side note I just snuck in 2 test hovers of a new NEU motor that I am testing for Steve NEU....Hopefully tomorrow I will get a bunch of flights on it with my Eagletree, and can do some comparing to the Scorpion...I have been happy with the Scorpion so far, but this new motor looks pretty darn promising....so far looks like more power with less mah consumption, and it's much much quieter, lighter, and...sounds awesome.....I hope to do a full review once my testing is complete, as there are a couple options for both the 6s and 8s setups....

Cool keep use posted. Too bad you are so far away. I would love to see that motor in action.

You are more than welcome to come fly with us....There is about 5-6 of us who primarily flew at the Chula Vista field, but now we fly out of the east end of the 905, it's really nice tons of space to fly and barbecue....We are planning on going out there in the morning....you should bring your 500.....Jake

I have to stay close tomarrow. I fly with a group of 10 - 20 people. Your not heading north any time soon are you?
hi guys
Has anybody used a 2 x 2200mah 25c 3S kong power setup on the 500?
Is this a viable alternative?

So I am trying to decide between the FP evo25 and evolight 6s 2500. I am kind of concerned with the long term life of the evolight compared to the evo25, but looking at the graphs in this thread it seams it would be in spec. I would like the lighter weight of the evolight but if it comes at the expense of life expectancy I would rather go with the evo25.
What are your thoughts on this?

I use the evo 25 2500 and tp v2 2600 6s paks. I think the tp 2600 is the better batt. IMO :)

they seem to put out a little more punch and hold the 25.20v when their done charging. A few guys at the field have had thier evos start droping voltage soon after new too. Both still do a good job but I like the tp a bit better.

I am currently testing the new 30C outrage 2500... DAMN good so far!
I need to get some flights on them to see longevity.

Well since people seem to keep asking "WHAT are the best batteries for the 500?" I felt a sticky power systems post would help people find what others are using and how opinions on how they like them.
1) Post what you have used for batteries. List pack type, C rating, and Ma capacity.
2) Please also list the motor used, pinion, throttle curves, ESC settings, and if you can head speed.
3) Please give flight time and MA used from the pack!
4) Explain what your thoughts about that setup and your flying style.
5) Share a video using YouTube if you can.
Got my TRex500 on Friday Afternoon and had the first fly on Sunday morning, this thing is FUUUUN!!
I have the following setup
Thunder Power 4S2100 16C Prolites and FlightPower 4S2100Evolites 18C, in series (from my 450)
Medusa 36-50-1300V2 with heatsink using a 12tooth pinion and powered by a Jazz 55-10-32 ESC
TC @2500 60% Normal mode
TC @2650 65% IdleUp1
TC @2800 80% IdleUp2
Flying 80% of a 6 minute flight in IU1 flying loops, flips, tic tocs, rolls, and FFF am putting back in 1400mah, or a bit less. Just flying nice and smooth as the light was disappearing this afternoon I used 1220mah for a 6 minute flight. So it looks like about a 7 minute flight will be about 80% of my batteries capacity flying my limited aerobatics and maybe 8 minutes being real smooth on the sticks.
Motor was by far the warmest piece in the system, didn't have my thermometer with me but I could keep my fingers on the motor indefinitely, batteries were barely warm (about the same as when being used on my 450) and the ESC was not much above ambient.
Will have to see if the TP's can handle the load, I have a feeling I miss treated them a bit by leaving them fully charged for while.
The attached graph shows the extra amps needed to swing the blades 300rpm faster, the first 30 seconds of the graph is hovering in Normal mode (2500rpm) then the jump up is hovering in IU2 (2800rpm). At 1.05minutes it is in IU1 (2650 rpm) till 1.4min when I went back to Normal mode.

Hello. I'm hesitating between Outrage 2500, Align 2600 and Outrage 3300, which battery will give me more flight time for money? Outrage 3300 is $40 more expensive than Outrage 2500 and $50 than Align 2600, and heavier, is it worth it? My flying style at the moment is FFF, loops, rolls, inverted, learning to fly some more advanced 3D.

hey what is the cheapest 5 cell lipo from 3700mah and up that will fit under the trex 500 canopy. Also where should i buy it from.
8s 2200 zippyr 430 grams total
total weight 1760 grams
running a z power z15a at 138 grams
solid 2800 rpm head speed
cc30hv esc
After 5.5 minutes 1700 mah back in
Going to cf landing gear taking off 70 more grams
going flybarless take off 50 grams
Cf boom 13 more grams down
Will end up at aprox 1620 grams full up weight on 8s.
should give me 6 min flight with a nice light feel.
Going torque tube as well not sure how much weight this will add

I'm not 100% sure, as I don't know how you plan to do it, but going flybarless may not save you any weight at all. Don't forget that you have to add equipment to the heli to make it work. It will reduce rotating mass, though.
I like the times you are getting with that setup, though. Looks good.
not sure what vbar weigh's. I can't imagine more than 40 grams. I would be replacing a 26 gram 401. Not sure what flybar and paddles weigh but I think at least 50 grams if not more? Will weigh next week.
