I took RVs advice and set the Vstabi gyros deadband to 5. My helis seem a little more precise.

Sounds good John. I think I will need 5 on the gyro side and 120 on the r/c side. (to keep my mistakes from showing up at the heli...)

On which menu and setting is this exactly? Is this regardless of setup etc, to get a more "locked" feel or what? Are you running any expo on your rudder channel in tx?

It's in the expert aileron, elevator and rudder menus Shawn.
My last few flights I had mine like that (at 5).
Dunno if it felt that much different, I keep changing too many things at once to know at this point, lol !
I'm using 35% on my rudder for expo.

Rjohn likely has lots more time on it like that, he'll give you the straight goods, I'm sure.

Nathan

Shawn,
Like Nathan said it is in the Expert menus for Aileron, Elevator, and tail. I have been running 5 and no smoother on the tail for months. I just reduced the deadband to 5 for the Vbar cyclic gyros and it seemed to tighen up the cyclic responsiveness and stability. The TX deadband is adjustable as well, I don't know if I changed those parameters in Vstabi. Current files are only in the helis. I have not looked in my TX in many months. I'll check the TX settings as well.

I thought it was the golden thing to always run all smoothers? Ok on the DB in each expert part, I'll look at that. Was just curious if you were running expo as I am running 20% on my ail/ele/ and tail fo expo.

I am running 15% cyclic and 25% tail.

What's the theory on the tail smoother? I can't tell if the latency is to the stick input or PID output.

All I know is I asked Ulrich and he said the better performance with all digitals came from running the smoothers, including tail. Something to do with the vstabi to servo latency....

So you are saying you are runnign 5 deadband on your tr channel as well? Hmmm

Until I can cancel this "shiver" style maneuvers I'm doing, I'm keeping the RC channel deadband to 10! I'm hoping temps above 40 might help with that ;)

we're talking about the gyro deadband though are we not...? not the rc one...

I run 5 on both in the tail.
