I am looking into a option to convert the Microsoft Access Database into a runtime enviroment which means you will not need MS Access to run the database. It will take me some time, I will work on it and try to get out as soon as I can.

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum, and RC helis too. This flight logger looked interesting, but I don't have Access either. However, there is a free runtime version of Access available from the Microsoft website that can be used just for the purpose of adding data to an existing database. It's ideal for this situation of sharing a database design among colleagues such as this group. Here's the link to the download page (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d9ae78d9-9dc6-4b38-9fa6-2c745a175aed&displaylang=en).

Hope this helps

Better yet, look at dba (the openoffice database). It's very much like access, and it's free.

I looked at this as an option for this Flight Log first, but unfortunate there seems to be no easy way to convert a MSA database into an openoffice database format. The Access Runtime download was simple to download, install and open the flight log.

I am interested to know how the runtime works for everyone, this DB is untested in the runtime environment, please let me know if you find any bugs. Thanks for the link Brit.

How do I delete the data that's in the log?

file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/JEREMY%7E1/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.jpg

I loaded some example flights, aircraft and batteries into the DB. To delete the aircraft inventory you must first delete the 2 example flights. if you click on "log your flight" in the main menu and click the "first record" button (two buttons to the left of "new flight" it will have a line followed by a left arrow) then click the delete button. You will be able to delete your aircraft inventory once all flights for that aircraft have been deleted, it is set up this way so that you do not accidentally delete any aircraft that you have logged flights for. hope this helps. PM me if you have any other questions.

when I open with office 2007 all I get is the title photo, which never goes away! I have heard that you are supposed to run a macro (whatever that is!) but when I do it asks for the macro name which I dont have!

I know I'm ignorant but please help!

Nice work Adan.

Hi,
Thanks for this program. I have a problem in that when I go to the Total battery time is just list one of my packs. not the two of them. it has the correct time but doesn't show my second pack. I fly one heli on the two packs and I made sure I have two types of battery's in my inventory but still shows as one. I have even made sure that I am entering the correct packs. any help would be great.
thanks

i found that same problem and am working on a new version which will fix that issue and add a place to store your radio settings as well. I have talked to finless about replacing version 1.0 with version 1.1 it should be out in about a week. Meanwhile I will put together some instructions on how to fix the battery issue.

Thanks Mearlin! You sent me the new flight log and i added it to the #1 post.

Updated 3-26-2008! Another FREE RC Flight log added!

OK we now have two free RC flight logs for you all to use and download!

Helifreak user aburl81 (Adan) sent me this cool little flight log and asked that we offer it up free for download! It has a cool user interface so your not having to use MS Access and enter data raw in to tables, and does a bunch of neat stuff for you!
Thanks Adan!
Requirements:
Microsoft Windows PC
Microsoft Office with MS Access
Here is the download link:
FREE RC Flight Log using MS Access (9 Megs) (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=finless&filename=rcflightlog.zip)

Helifreak user Mearlin has created a "run time" version of a flight log. It's made using FileMaker Pro Advanced(Developer). It's in a runtime solution so no other software is needed, it's self contained.
Thanks Mearlin!

Are there any out there for the Mac? I'm getting a little tired of having to stoop to run Windows to do almost anything RC related.

Don't blame that on the developers of these! They offered it up for free... If it don't run on Mac don't blame them! This is not a Mac war zone ;)

Mine will work on a Mac, I just have to rebuild the runtime on my Mac at work. I'll get it done tomorrow sometime.

I get a Windows version when I use that link. The DLLs are a dead giveaway (Macs don't use DLLs).

Well, I was able to download the Mac version, but I had to use the first link (the one entitled "FREE RC Flight Log using MS Access (9 Megs)") to do it. Looking at the URLs for the links by mousing over them, the links for both runtime versions point to the same file: the Window runtime.
