I use female dean's connectors on my LiPo packs. I had a few females left over from before, which I believe I bought in dean branded packaging (little plastic bags) and the pins you solder to are silver. THe + and - are also very large on these. I just got some new ones mail order and they didnt come in any branded packaging, but the pins are gold and the + and - are tiny. Otherwise the connectors look the same.
For those of you who know what true deans look like, are one or both of these fake deans or do deans sell batches that look like each of these?
Thanks,
Eric

Eric,
As I understand it real Deans connectors should have "Deans" on the packaging like your first ones. The others are most likely knock-offs. Having said that I received some knock-off Deans when I got my last Lipo off Ebay and they seem to work great for me. I have heard of others having problems though. I hope this helps.

That's good to know that they worked ok. I assumed some retailers may buy these in bulk and then send them out as needed, so I guess its possible the packaging doesnt say Dean's. However, the different color pins and + - sizes have me suspicious.

According to the US Patent Office, the connector plates should be made from Beryllium copper, nickel plated and then gold plated.
I have been using some fake connectors, without any problems (touch wood) :...:
Usually the label on the fake connectors read "Deans style connector"
