imz ? voyager ? ratio ?

what head speed are you guys running with the os 50 1800. i know 9.33 ratio and the os 50 is 1822. i am thinking of going to this ratio in my voyager. i am only running 1850 at 8.8 ratio and have backed off my pitch to 9 degrees. my motor is still bogging down. and i think if i change it to the 9.33 and run 1800 i could get my motor to pull it without loading the engine as bad. i know that my v blades have allot to do with how it loads my engine. when i used the mavericks it just would over speed allot. i plan on staying with v blades and just want it to handle these blades without a problem. now that my pitch is lowering the speed of my heli is decreasing. i like to practice 3d and love practicing autos with these blades. i don't mind losing fuel economy because i have 5 cases of fuel to burn. i had thought with my 8.8 ratio it would do alright at 1900 but it just loads it harder it seems. any advise would be great. i am running a gov but i don't know if it is slowing my head speed when it bogs down i fly by myself but i do have a tac. just no one close that can operate it. :(

PS i made a post in engines and mufflers also. (mp 2 and os 50) but since the mp2 are coming apart i will not be going with one of them yet.

Hey Learjetcb,

I know that alot of guys have talked about trying to get the best match in equipment for properly loading the OS 50 in the Voyager. Some guys have put 650 mm blades on their ships to achieve this and are having good success with them (or so I think). Anyway, your post is the first I have seen where someone wasnt having much luck with the stock ratio in the Voyager. I have just finished building one but have not had a chance to open her up into anything other than a hover. I am running 600 mm Thunder Tiger blades. I flew these on my Venture and they did very well. I'll stay in touch and let you know how it works for me

no i dont have a imz. i think it is not all that. i am running 8.8 but i found out that my motor is about shot. the engine has to rev real high just to idle. and will not disangage the cluch just to idle. i was told it was about to seized up. i just replaced the barings to. what a bummer. :evil:

no it was new i put in a new liner and piston 5 cases ago and put in another set of barrings last moth. the motor has about had it i can hardly get the liner out unless i heat the case. i now have a westen euroteck coming from the east coast. so my problem should be solved. now i do have to change my ratio down back to stock. that engine runs 17000 to 19000 so at 9.78 head speed would be 1738 to 1942. i like to run 1750 norm and 1850 to 1900 for 3d. i may try 9.33 depends on how this motor sounds/performs at the 9.78 ratio. what i have been told it can pull +12 and -12 no prob it will be a rocket.
