Hi Everyone!

In the past there wasn't a good heli-only event in our area, but this has now changed! This one WILL be worth your time!

The North Country Model Controllers will be hosting its first annual heli-only fun fly. Over the last few years several of us in the club have gone over the deep end with helicopters and are experiencing "collective madness"... gotta go fly... gotta have it... need to buy it... just one more... need that bling... so "Collective Madness" seems like a fitting name for our first heli-only event!

"Collective Madness"will be our first AMA sanctioned heli-only fun fly Saturday & Sunday, June 28th & 29th. I'm sure people will start rolling in as early as Thursday and everyone is welcome early!

Our new field is located 10 miles south of Bemidji, Minnesota just east of highway 71. A map will follow soon...

No contests, just a good old fashioned fun fly...

There will be lot's of sharing of experience and help available for those new to helicopters. EVERYONE is welcome and the focus will be on lots of flying and having fun! Flying safe will not only be encouraged, but enforced...

ALL helis are welcome: Glow, gas, turbine, electric, scale... Big, small, bring em all! We want to see em fly!

Huge new field with multiple flight stations
Food available on site
Night flying encouraged
Rustic on-site camping is free
Big group camp fire every night - adult beverages encouraged!

Mark your calendars!

If you fly helis and live in the midwest, you WILL want to be at this event!!

For an informative and entertaining time, in addition to updates concerning the "Collective Madness" funfly, North Country Model Controllers would also like to invite everyone to visit their website at www.ncmcrc.com. They have a "crackerjack" webmaster that updates the site daily.

Hi Chris,

I'm sure you don't remember, but I met you at IRCHA in Muncie last summer. I really enjoyed watching your turbines fly. They are just awesome!!

Collective Madness WILL be a good time. We not only host a good fun fly, but we throw a good party too!! :cheers

I think we have a few Bergen owners in our club, so it would be great to see even a few more Bergen birds at our event. A turbine would be awesome! I think there are a few turbine owners down in the Minneapolis area and it sounds like several pilots are coming from that area, so if you came and brought a turbine, you might not be alone!

I've had quite a few emails and calls with lots of interest for our event. Other than the Rotary Ring Out in Southern Minnesota, there isn't much as far as a GOOD heli fun fly, hang out, camp out for three or four day kind of event in our area of the mid-west. We'll fix that this summer!! :YeaBaby:

We've got a great field with lots of room and the field owner (Don) has about 7-8 helicopters himself ranging from a few big scale ships, to a gasser, several 50 and 90 sized nitros, and now a very overpowered TRex 600e, so our club is VERY heli friendly! In fact Don just got his turbine heli waiver last summer and has been looking at them quite seriously, so showing one off might pay off for you!

On site camping is great with LOTS of room for motor homes or whatever you bring. We can accommodate everything from tenters to big motor homes and everything in between.

Also, as long as you're a registered pilot, you can set up shop and sell whatever you want! (as long as it's legal!)

It would be awesome to get a few vendors like you to come and show off your new toys! Please consider it. We'd love to have you there!

I can't wait for this event. There isn't alot going on as far as heli events in the midwest so this is going to be a very welcome event. I hope Don has all his stuff charged and ready to go, as I am going to fly every ship he has. Maybee even some others as well. Of course I will have my MaxAmps powered T-rex 600 and 500 with incase Don isn't sharing. Hey Don, I am going to need a place to crash. When I say crash, I meen a place to sleep.

Hey Bob!

It's about a 3-1/2 hour drive from White Bear Lake. I think there are some guys coming up from the Twin Cities. If you flew into there we could probably set you up with a ride.

If you're interested, let me know and I'll do some digging...

On another note, remember the pictures I sent you of the frozen lake taken on May 1... Within a week the ice was all off and the dock and boat were in. The pontoon will be in this weekend.

The seasons change real quick up here!! Unfortunately, the same is true in the fall!

We'd love to have you come. Let me know what I can do to help.

We've been getting calls from people coming out of the woodwork regarding this heli funfly. There really isn't much for weekend heli funflys / campouts in the mid-west other than the Rotary Ring Out in southern MN, and I haven't heard a word if that event is even going to happen this summer.

If anyone has any questions about our event just shoot me a PM and I'll get right back to you. You can also go here for more information: http://www.ncmcrc.com/ANNOUNCE.html

Hope to see you in June!!!

This sounds awesome! An excuse to camp AND see some sweet helis. I think this event will expedite my purchase of a new Rex 500... As someone new to the hobby I'm really looking forward to this a lot.

P.S. PM me if anyone needs a ride from the Twin Cities/ Metro area, got plenty of room!

Looking forward to this. It'll be my first "real" funfly. Will there be lots of spare crash parts for sale there? :happyd

Paul, if you fly Raptors or Align (any size) there should be an abundance of spare parts available. Just three weeks to go. See you there.

I crash both regularly.

I just have to get my replacement to get his butt back down here in time so I can get home. Should be no problem, but generally when there is a funfly involved I get screwed.

See you all there...

Ya, but from what kurt tells me you enjoy getting screwed. I can't wait to see you again paul. It has been far to long since we did any flying together.

Actually one of the last times I was flying was probably with you Tony. :( Well maybe not that long ago, but it sure seems like it. Looking forward to getting there myself.

Hey Guys,

Attached is the layout of the field for the fun fly.

Sounds like we'll fire up the fry shack either Friday or Saturday night. If you don't know what this is, you'll have to come and find out!!

Less than two weeks!

Make your plans to be there...

The forecast for this weekend is mid 70s, sun, and low winds.

The field is looking great and we're ready!

I'll be at the field late Thursday afternoon camping for the duration.

Come early if you can. It should be an awesome weekend!!

Latest forecast update:

Saturday will be a bit windy with a chance of rain later in the day. Sunday looks perfect!

The good thing about wind is that it helps you practice your collective management! :YeaBaby:

Hope to see you there!!

Hey guys,

I live over in Thief River Falls, MN. I was thinking of driving over for this. Sounds like fun!

Do I have to be an AMA member to fly? I used to be a member but my membership expired and I didn't renew.

Hey guys,

Yes you do need to be an AMA member to fly at the event, but we can sign you up at the event, so you could fly immediately. We have the AMA paperwork and AMA allows new people to sign up at sanctioned events and fly immediately.

Please drive over from Thief River! Everyone is welcome and it would be great to meet you. People will be flying Sunday until late in the day.

Hope to see you all soon!
