Hello, I have a Lama V3 and I am thinking about getting phoenix. I was wondering if the tx that comes with this heli will work with the simulator being that the heli is a 4ch

thanks

It should, assuming there's an adapter for it. Even with a DX7, Phoenix only uses 4 channels; the DX7 has to be configured with a 1-servo swash.

I'm sorry but, I must disagree with the above statement. Phoenix will work with four channels but, it will use many more.

I recommend you have at least five channels:
Aileron, Elevator, Pitch, Rudder and Throttle.

In addition, for helicopters, it is nice to have at least:
Heading Hold.

For fixed wing and others, it is nice to have:
Gear, Flaps, Wheel Brakes, Air Brakes/spoiler and Tilt-rotor.

I feel a seven channel controller is very nice. Six is very workable. Five is the minimum.

If you have less than five channels, you will need to assign keyboard keys to throttle hold and idle-up. Those are needed to practice auto-rotations and inverted flight, respectively.

With a DX7, you can assign as follows:

On the sticks:
Aileron, elevator, pitch, rudder and throttle (pitch and throttle share the same stick).

Flight Mode switch flat (if governor on) or V shaped throttle curve.

Throttle Hold switch to a flat throttle curve at zero.

Gear switch to landing gear/tilt-rotor,

Aux2 switch to heading hold/flaps.

In addition, I use the two D/R switches to change expo for the aileron and elevator channels.

Sorry, I should have said that it only really needs 4 channels for collective/cyclic and tail control, even on an eCCPM heli model. I was just trying to assure the original poster that a 4-channel TX will suffice quite nicely. In fact, I use the 5-channel TX that came with my Blade CX2; the 5th channel goes unused because it's a rotary knob and I haven't found a suitable use for it in the sim. If you need other "channels", you can assign keyboard keys to those functions.

Yes. That tx will work just fine, but you do have to order the Esky adapter from Heliguy or directly from Phoenix.

thanks for the comments...there is also a toggle switch on the top right of the tx, could i use that for throttle hold or idle up?

You might be able to. Phoenix has a profile set up for Esky 4 channel tx's and you can make a copy of the default profile and make custom adjustments. The numeric keypad defaults certain keys to certain functions (ie. idle up = numeric keypad 3, retracts = numeric keypad 5 etc.)

Thanks everybody for the help. I am probably going to be ordering Phoenix later today!
