Hi Guys,
Ive been having huge issues with my Raptor 50 and the tail.
First of all, when hovering for a while the belt will loosen up.
If i input full positive pitch suddenly into it the whole boom will move in about 2-3mm. I have also broken 2 plastic tail cases in the process.:bawl
For some reason the belt is pulling to the point where its breaking my tail case or moving the boom in.
I have replaced everything from new belt, 3 new tail cases, bearings, gears and even a new one way bearing on the main gear.:arggg:
The raptor has brand new frames too and tightens up the boom real well, but that doesnt stop it.
ANy help will be appreciated heaps!!

To help the boom from sliding I sand down both sides of the frame where it clamps the boom so it can clamp tighter. I've sanded it to the point where there is still a slight gap in the plastic when tight around the boom.
Why it would be breaking tail cases the only things I can think of is are you sure you only have 1/4 twist in the belt and is the set screw locktighted to hold the pin on the tail pully?
Do you have any aftermarket parts in the tail assembly? I have the maverik tail and notice at full deflection of the tail (right rudder) the parts that connect the tail blades to the slider can actualy move to far and wont let the tail blades go back to center. To fix it I just put in less travel on the gyro.
Has this heli been in a crash? any bent or binding in the tail assembly?

I had the boom move on my 50 as well, but not with any damage (I caught it creeping on the bench after pulling the boom back and adjusting the belt.
I put one or two wraps of clear packing tape around the boom (after carefully cleaning the oil residue off) where it slides into the frame/clamp.
It has not moved since.

I will sand down the side and give that a go,
As far as the tail case goes i checked the belt, its definetely only a 1/4 turn in the belt. and loctited the set screw.:DOH
The heli has been fullly rebuilt with all new parts excluding the head and motor. Everything else is brand new.
Could it be possibly pulling in the boom while flying, loosening the belt, then jumping a tooth and break, there goes the tail case?:dontknow
Thanks for your ideas

I have a Raptor .50 Titan. I had a problem a few months ago after a rebuild where I put on a short (regular length) tailboom and maybe with an extra twist in the belt it seemed to be the right length. The first flight the boom loosed and moved. On checking I measured the boom and figured out what happened - so I'd advise checking to see if yuou have the coorect belt and boom first.
