Anybody have any trouble with the one way bearing? Mine doesn't grab right away. In fact, sometimes on spoolup, it takes a couple of revolutions of the gear before it will grab. I've taken it out, cleaned it, and relubed it, but it's still acting odd.
I just purchased this heli used, so I've yet to fly it.

Sound like your one bearing is slipping. A few people in this forum has problem with the bearing not properly glued to the shaft. You may want to take the gear apart and reloctie it to the shaft.
Cheers,

Doesn't look like the gear is slipping around the bearing. Once it catches, it holds fine. I found a used shaft in the package of extras I got with it is well. It looks the same except the smaller end where the gear goes on isn't as long. I'm just waiting for ReadyHeli to get the DS760 gyros back in stock before I put in my order. I might as well get a new shaft as well.

what exactly are you glueing in your senario
I can not for the life of me find anything except the bottom screw in the shaft and the gear set screws would be loctited.
please elaborate

there has been several threads on this subject. the problem lies within the one way bearing and the pinion gear the owb is pressed into. the fit is not perfect, therefore alot of times the owb slips on the inner pinion race. you'll either need to use red locktite or even better, green locktite 609. the stock setup is the owb with a 19t pinion, and this i believe is where all the problems lie. i've been told that the 20t pinion/bearing assy is more robust and will not even need securing. i've got my 20t/owb assy in the mail thursday, but i've been sick and too busy otherwise to install it yet. when it first slipped, i used red loctite but that didn't even hold it. so, green 609 all the way if your going to keep the 19t gear. something like jb weld is probably even better.

If you go from the 19 to the 20, don't you need to change your motor pinion as well or is the resulting speed difference negligable? I was planning on ordering the stock 19 tooth from ReadyHeli, but if the 20 is the way to go, then I'll get that one.

I had the same problem with my OWB. The bearing would just spin endlessly if in the wrong spot. I would have to rotate the blades until the OWB caught, then power up and everything would be fine.
I replaced it last week and found that the bearing below it had self destructed. Not sure if the bearing caused the OWB problem, or the the other way around? I replaced both, and everything works fine now.
BTW, my 19T OWB hasn't had any problems with slipping.

must be there are two problems with the owb/gear assy then. my owb (the bearing itself) is in fine shape, but for some reason the pinion always slid on it. i checked for small cracks in the pinion but could find none. as far as the gear mesh, i'm told you don't need to worry about it, going from a 19t to 20t. i haven't installed mine yet, but everyone says it fits fine. someone here had posted two pics, a compairison of the two different gears resting in the jaws of digital calipers. the OD was the same.

If the 19 and the 20 are the same diameter, I would think that the tooth spacing would be different and would therefore require a matching drive gear for the secondary?

i had the same problem with mine, i used green loctite for bearings and now it holds.

put in the 20t last night and spun up a bit, there is no mesh issues. it actually seems quieter now.
