It look cool with strobe and nav lights system, how is it in the air and where you got the landing pad? I really like it.
Thanks

Thanks!
I only finished it today and its real windy here, so I haven't maidened her yet.
I made the landing pad, it's canvas stretched over a pannel and painted with acrylics. Costs very little to do.

So, in a sense it's a painting of a landing pad. That you happen to be using as a landing pad. Neat idea... ;)

Indeed! I wanted something with a matt surface that wasn't all slippery when the heli spooled up. I was having a wander around my local hobby store looking for inspiration and the panels were sat there in the artsit section.

Thanks!
These are the retracts I bought, though a little modification was needed. They come with a servo, not bad for 33 Euros

How did the overall installation of your trex mechanics go into the fuse? Paid little over 100 bucks for that fuse Im guessing?

I paid $119 USD for it, it is real simple to get the heli in. Just one small problem was the s9257 til servo was too large, I had to re-mount it the other way round to get it to fit. The servo horn is now tailwards with not much room between the servo and gyro.
I need to remove the tail gearbox to get it in and out of the fuselage. I can put it back to the standard T-Rex in 10 minutes if I want to fly without the fuselage.
The retracts took about 10 hours to get right, and cuttting the holes in the fuse was a major task

It's worth noting that Heliartist make all of the Align branded fuselages. Align plan to release a version of this fuselage shortly again made by heliartist and, based on pricing of their others, it will likely be very reasonably priced.
Likely it won't have the same paint scheme though, their 500 differs from the Heliartis one in this respect.

Did not know you had problems with the 9257 tail servo...
Was searching for something else and this thread was in the returned results.

Theres a few pointers. The biggest thing to look out for is that the model will be way tail heavy, I overcame this by moving the battery forwards a bit and mounting much of the retract system up front. Also its a heavy model with the fuse on, you might want to up your headspeed if you are running a low one or it will struggle.
The tail orizontal fins don't stick to well, I had to key the surfaces to get a decent hold. It's surprisingly easy to put onto the heli, make sure you let us see how yours looks when youre done!

Andy,
Did you mount your battery on the lower tray? Any interference issues with the upper (slanted) tray? I saw a picture of another fuselage that required removal of the upper tray. that was where I had planned to put the receiver.
