View Full Version : Another Control Setup Question
Okay, I got Phoenix a few days ago and I have been slowly improving my piloting skills :) When I set it up originally I selected the DX7 w/ %25 expo on the Control Setup screen. My Tx is set up without any expo so I was thinking that the +25% expo was supposed to apply a 25% expo. However I went to Your Controls and changed my selection to the DX7 (without expo) and I have much better control now.
So I’m confused. Did the +25% expo selection try to counter a 25% expo on my Tx and effectively give me a -25% expo? Or am I just a better pilot without any expo?

Having expo on both the transmitter and the sim will definitely affect control. If I really understood what the 25% referred to mathematically, I might be able to calculate the effective expo.
In any case, if you're using expo in the radio (recommended if the radio you're using with the sim supports it), you definitely want to turn it off in the sim. The signals coming out the trainer port on the radio will already have the expo built in.

If you have a dedicated model in your TX for Phoenix you would be better off to set the expo at 0. you can then fly several models with "custom" expo settings in Phoenix without resetting yor TX for every model.

Oh this is tight. So anything that effects my curves on the radio translate out the trainer port. Sweet!
I don't run expo but I think I am going to start. I have been practicing trying not to use it for 6 months and I think I am definately an expo person. I can never make it look nice and smooth. But in RealFlight when I use expo it smooths right out.
