I have just bought the blade 400 after having the cx2 for a few months and have already had my first blade strike. I have just put some new blades on my Blade 400 after having them hit the ground. Nothing seemed to be damaged but the blades but now that I have the new blades on it seems to jump around more while the blades are coming up to speed. Is it normal to have the heli jump around and spin during spin up? If so how much? And where I seem to have it jumping and spinning on me more what can been done about it? Once off the ground it seem the same as before and fling good. I have really liked this heli but need some help.

mostly when at 0 pitch 50% thrott nothing, no yaw or excessive vibe
i thing to check is the feathering spindal when my light blade strike happend it bent mine. so to check remove blades and the screw in the blade grips rotate the screw with allen thier should be no ocillation of the grips. if thier is remove the spindal and replace or repair. its not hard to repair just us a hammer and a hard surface like steel. then use a drill to check if back flat. well hope that helps but thier is some vibration during run up to 50%

You need to check the feathering shaft and the main shaft. I did the same thing, tiny blade strike and found the main shaft bent enough to make it shake at start up. Either is easy to change just watch how the parts come off when you take the blade grips off. If you continue to fly it like it is you will eventually eat up the bearings. Good luck:)

Be sure to check the spindles as mentioned. But there may be something even more simple. Also check to see that you don't have your main blades too tight. They should just support themselves straight out parallel to the boom when you hold the heli out with the bottom of the skids perpendicular to the ground. ( hold the heli out sideways by the skids)The blades should then fall when slightly with a small shake. If the blade tension is too tight upon spin up they won't naturally open up fast enough to correct any unbalance from not being perfectly straight. Thats why when more head speed is applied they eventually straighten out and the wobble goes away. Another clue that this would be the case is rather than if you indeed had a bent spindle is you would almost undoubtedly have poor blade tracking as well........Sweet our U.S. Mail Lady just brought my March issue of RC Heli Mag. Gotta go. I would get a life but as it turns out they don't come in my size. Hehe...

No matter how little the blade strike is it will bend the feathering shaft! The thing is so little its almost usless to try and repair. If you use a hammer or a vise grip or whatever you will cause a bur on the shaft and the ball bearings wont slide smoothly on the shaft and will cause more problems. At $5.00 for 2 just replace them and if their out of stock for gods sake dont hit them with a hammer, Get a peice of glass out of a picture or something flat and roll and mark the high spot, but bend dont hammer it !

Did you balance your blade? My original blade wasn't balanced flew great but a well balanced blade makes it really smooth!

Thanks for all the help. I am going it alone, the nearest pilot I have found is 3 hours away so this forum has been a life saver. I finally had time to look at it again and found that my feathering spindle is bent and my main shaft as well both ever so slightly. I had to get a piece of glass to roll it on and find that it was bent. I have them on order (for the price I see no reason trying to straiten them) and should be back in the air again in a few days.
