Hi ,
Ijust bought my new 12FG radio but it's in mode 1,
Need to put it in mode 2.
Exept the changing mode menu and radio and change the spring , is there anything else to do like stick calibration or else ?

Am not that familiar with 12FG. But I would think it is like the 12Z and 14MZ. You can do the mechancial change part without taking off the back of the radio.
You will have to do a stick calibration, because the throttle stick and elevator stick have different travel limits.

You will have a problem trying to calibrate the 12FG. There is no freely available utility so far that allows you into the service menue unless some one has found a way in the last couple of days? There have been lots of posts on this site recently about trying to get into the service menue. So far no joy!

I am fairly sure the travel on the vertical axis of the sticks is now off. The 12Z and 14MZ when modes are changed. The sticks have to be calibrated for the vertical axis. I would think the 12FG is no different. On the throttle stick now, you will probably notice that it will reach full throttle stick now before the stick is all the way to the stops. On the elevator at full travel the elevator function will not reach full travel with the stick at full defection.

I have changed the Mode T12FG of one friend of mine. The radio has a system of change very similar to that from the T9CAP.
I don't now remember the keys to push for exceeding to this selection but it is easy.
Once changed it seems me both all ok without need of calibration.
Sorry for bad english... i am european (Italy)

Yes you can change the stick function in the menu of the radio. But the problem you run into with the sticks . The stick that was the throttle and is now elevator. The servo will reach full travel before the stick reaches full travel.
That is why the stops are located on the throttle stick, they stop the travel of the stick about 10-15% before it would reach full travel without them. And the throttle stick is calibrated to have full travel ( 100%) when it hits the stops.
I have not seen a 9Z,12Z or 14MZ that did not need calibration for the sticks when the mode was changed.
The 9C does not have the stops on the throttle stick. So a mode swap can be done on it without calibratiion of the sticks.

David the 12 FG does not have the stops on the throttle stick like the 12z and 14 mz does. I have a 12Fg and that is one thing i do miss.

DavidYou are right for T9Z T14Mz and T12Mz. In the T9C and in the T12FG there is a hidden menù. You activates turning on the Tx with some pressed keys (I don't remember what.) As in the old FF7 you can directly be chosen the Mode.
I confirm that the sticks don't have differences of run.

Laddy,
Thanks, I didn't realize the 12FG did not have the stops. I looked and held a 12FG at Clints BD bash last month. I worked the sticks, but never noticed the stops were not on the throttle stick.
Marcomm,
To access the service menus is more than pressing some buttons. On the 9Z and 9C that uses a Campac, you had to access the service menu with a service menu enabler thru the Campac port. The 12Z and 14MZ you access it by having a command on the CF card. Then it is inserted into the radio and turned on. On the 12FG I have not seen anyone post a way to access the service menu on the 12FG.

DavidI before the T12 had the T9C and I am sure whether to enter the menù of the change mode is enough to turn on the tx with the 2 keys push sx. I have made him nell T12FG of one friend of mine. I don't remember as but I know that i has been very easy and without inserting SD or other.

Marcomm,
Yes your correct. I forgot about on the 7U, 8U and 9C that you could hold down the data input keys while turning on the power . Then it would go into a menu to reverse the throttle, also could change the electronic mode in that menu. But the 9C still has a service menu also, that is activated thru the Campac slot.
Here is the 9C service menu

Here it is for the 9Z

Hello to everyone
i have found a very good price of the 12fg but is mode 1 do you have a final "verdict" if its possible to change it without a calibration
I have a 9c and 7c 2.4 and it was easy to change the mode and for sure without the need of calibration
also can anyone verify if the 12fg it's similar ?? anyone can take a picture of the inside or even better a walk through for changing mode, sure it will be very good for everyone
Thnx

the 12 FG does not have the stops on the throttle stick like the 12z and 14 mz does.
The vertical travel should be the same on the left and right stick. So I would not think you would need to recalibrate the sticks.

I converted my 12Fg from Mode 2 to Mode 1 on the weekend. All I did was swap the gimbals over as it was easier than trying to move the spring over. It only took 15 minutes and there is no need to recalibrate the sticks.
