Is there a way to tell if my fan will accept the new harder clutch dampers?

The dampers fit into the fan with no problem but it seems like the drive pins fit very tight into the dampers.

Maybe I should have rephrased it, is this the older Fury fan or the newer one?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff, if you take a pic from the top with the dampeners removed I can tell for sure, but it looks like you have a new one. The size of the opening will be the same from one side to the other. The older fans had a reduction in the cutout for the dampener in the middle part.

Also if the dampeners went in easy, it is probably a new fan.

I would use a pit of baby powder or talc on the dampeners when sliding the pins in for the first time. It may be snug, but it should not take excessive force.

Eric's right. If the fan were an older one, you would have had a MAJOR struggle forcing them in, and an even bigger one still getting the pins into the holes after that.

Ok thanks, I got it together and all is well. It just looked like the drive pins were a little stuborn to get in there but with some talc it worked fine.

Now the clearance is perfect (IMO) :D and I didn't force it up into the bearing block.

I will hopefully fly it tomorrow to test but the weather here is the typical Seattle crud. Man you guys are lucky to live in a sunny place.

Thanks once again for the help.

Jeff

Cool, good to hear. If you have to force it, something is wrong. That fan deal has caused some people some problems. Now that it is a known issue hopefully others will not have more issues.
