Hello I am fairly new to r/c helis but have been into r/c's for 15 years. I recently bought a trex 450 se v2 with a full size spectrum Dx7. I gladly swapped out the full size spectrum servos for hitec hs65mg's. A also purchased a gy 401 and a jr 3400g for the tail. I have four flight power evo 25's @ 2170 mah. Anyways enough of that lets get to the dirt. I love the way spectrum works and own two other dx radios for land vehicles. I noticed that the aircraft radio reciever antennas were short and delicate. through the build process i noticed that I had a kink in one of my reciever wires and there was a gap in the insulation on the wire. So I fixed tihs by adding two different lenghts and widths of shrink tubing to the wires. I put the smaller diameter tubing ( which was longer than the larger diameter) i put it flush to the edge of the plastic flange on the reciever. I then overlapped the longer shrink (green) with the shorter wider shrink (red) and butted this shrink to the side of the reciever encompassing aprox 3/16" of flange. I then added a small drop of CA to make sure this did not slipp off or rotate. I now feel more comfortable working on my heli that I will not accidentaly damage a reciever wire! It should be a little tougher in a crash too!
