View Full Version : Ian has a 600!
Got my Logo 600 with V-Bar today! Thanks Mikado :YeaBaby:
Will be running hacker, 10s FlightPowers and a 8v 8717 system, Torsion 600mm blades and 90 size K&Bs!
Will keep you all updated with the V-Bar setup im doing and some flight vids

Congrats!
I've never heard of Torsion blades before. Their webpage is an entertaining read - I've never seen the word "truculence" in reference to rotors before! Let us know how they are.
John
they are incredibly good! silent in the air, huge power, they auto for ever, yet still fly very sharp and snappy. I will get some good vid of them when its flying (nothing too serious until after Nurnberg as my heli will be on the FlightPower stand).
Czech English, its great!

Right on, have a link or pictures of these Torsion blades you speak of? I as well have never heard of them.

Hmm yea no where to buy them though, at least not by looks of things to us North American peeps :(. To bad I always like trying different blades, even if they don't help my flying.

Ian has a review on the torsion blades.

We have a dealer here in Norway.

But it looks like they only come in 710mm, 600mm, and 315mm sizes. Too bad there is no 550 with at least a 52mm cord.
Right guys a quick update!
Logo is all built, and as we speak it is sitting on the FlightPower stand at Nurnberg toy fair! its killing me not to be able to fly it.
Anyway this is the setup i finally went with:
Logo600 3D with V-Bar
Hacker A50-12L-8P-ET "ElectricTurbine" Motor http://www.hacker-motor.com/images/Catalog08/Hacker-2008-WEB%2025.pdf
Undecided ESC
FlightPower EVOLITE V2 5350 10s
JR 8717
Regulated 6v "FlightTech" 8A regulator
EVORX-1345
JR8900G with Duralite Stepdown
Ill keep you all updated when i get her flying!

What is this "fligttech" 8A regulator you have in your setup? ANy pictures or informations there? Also you have one of the new Turbines you licky bugger! What pinion are you starting out with on that puppy? I definetely look forward to hearing how your setup performs.

I must have that new motor!
Damn, Looks like I have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get one. Don't know the cost yet either. I went over to aeromodel and chatted with Sean. But here is the scoop is anyone is interested:
It's a canned outrunner similar to in concept to the align designs. They had an aerodynamic flow specialist design the airflow path through the motor to optimize the cooling (even cooling of all parts was key apparently) much like the optimizations done in turbine engines, hence the name. And it is apparently making sick power. With a power rating of 3KW I'm sure it will be plenty for my trex... ;) The higher KV and bearing layout means it's supposedly more efficient than my A50-14s too. And it will give me more gearing options for greater hs.
I'd like to hear more from you team pilots on your impressions, especially if you can compare it to the A50-14s...

Of course you're being politically correct by having a regulator for the show. Won't you just run 2S when you fly?

This new ET motor was designed by Tirooni who designed the new Mikados Logos actually. I was not a big fan of the A50-14 myself, good power but ran hot. If this new motor stays super cool it might be a great winner. Good for them heavy rexes to I would imagine.

Hey Shawn,
This regulator is brand new, Its a new FlightPower product and it performs awesome! You will hear more as its being announced at Nurnberg.
Its "officially" an 8A, 50W adjustable voltage regulator. However, with a very slight breeze from my CBA, i pulled 13A, yes...13A from it and the voltage dropped only 0.4v, from 6v down to 5.6v, for about 5 minutes, and you could still hold it without being burnt. Mighty impressive actually so im 100% confident with them in my helis. I've been using them for months in testing in my planks.
Turbine motor, not got it yet but should do by the time i get the Logo back. I will be aiming for 2100rpm as im running the B-Var, so maybe the 16T or 17T pinion. Hacker has done huge amounts of research into this motor, and is confidently advertising it as 3kW, so i will try and push it more if i can. Cooling apparently works awesome too. I will keep you updated.
RJohn, No, i will be keeping the regulator on. the difference between 6v (15kg 0.06) and 8v (18kg 0.04) is marginal, so its not worth the extra maintenance, wiring and killing the servos quicker!

Single voltage output w/2 leads? What are you using for the tail?
ill just put a duralite step down in there. the V-Bar can handle it, the 8900G cant. If it doesnt work, i might put a 8717 on there, they are tail servo fast!!
right, it has flown, and how ****ing good does it fly!
only on 6 cells with my Hacker A40-8L-8P and it just flies perfect, so light, but enough power to do even harder flying like piro tick tocks.
Did my first piro wall of death too on its 3rd flight i am so happy!!!
the downside is that on 6 cells, with the 14T pinion flight times arn't too high, last flight was 4 minutes but its now charging, so i can see how much it took
video soon!

Your running an 8717 on the tail and it works good??????
no no, 8900G, the above post was just saying if i couldnt get a step down it might be worth a try, why not?!
but i got the step down the other day so running a real tail servo

the 8717 will not work as a tr servo with vbar. Even ulrich says to stay away from it. Several have tried the 8717 and it just does weird things with vbar on tail...

I'm tempted to wrap my BLS251 in red so it matches my 8717s. It's that good!

Yeah, thats what I was thinking Shawn, I can't imagine the 8717 working well at all. I tell you what though, the 9251's are just fine with the V-Stabi. I had a bunch laying around with nothing to use them for, thank god for the V-Rod.

Ian,
How's the new controller working?
