Great videos Bob :noteworthy - I found on my second frame assembly that it was worth installing the tail and elevator servos before putting the frames together as screw access is a little tricky later. We also had some concerns about some of the frame bolts not being long enough to engage the nylon locking collar on the nuts - did you find this ? Also what d'ya think about putting a dab of goop on the idler pulley bearings as rotating in this could melt the plastic pulley ?

Yeah, it's a great start! I wish Shawn had mentioned sanding the frames to me ;) My AR7000 satellite wire was neatly snipped off by one of those edges...

As far as the elevator servo, I still don't know a good way around it. If you install it too early, then there's no way to get it centered later. I installed it early, then had to pull it, center it while it was hanging loose, then install it again.

Something I've found with my 6003D kit is I couldn't get the main shaft to slide in without a lot of force. I loosened the mainshaft bearings slid the mainshaft in and then tightened the bolts holding the mainshaft bearing. Problem solved.

Some of my frame bolts were to short and didn't protrude through the nylon nuts fare enough. Mainly it was the 4 bolts holding the mainshaft bearing in. I got some longer bolts from my LHS made by Dubro.

Yes I wish I had known to sand the frames as I had a couple of wires get cut. On my second build I sanded them with 400 grit and all is happy.

I didn't notice any issues with bolts going into the nylock.... Are you sure the nuts were seated? Some of them don't seat right and you have to fiddle to get them in place. Maybe my kit has longer bolts now?

A lot of us were seeing the bolts being a little short so maybe Mikado has changed that in the more recent kits. The bolts on mine are just barely touching the nylock but there seems to be enough pressure on the bolt and friction from the plastic to hold it in place so I ended up just leaving it this way. So far after 30+ flights there seems to be no change.

Well I do notice some of the bolts do NOT come out the nut completely.... so yea... Some of them might be about 2/3rds way into the nylock... For the frame I think this is good enough based on checking them? Did anyone on you have them back out?

Bob, To Vbar or not to Vbar ? Whats your initial impression of the kit being as its unusual construction.

V-bar honestly will be a NEW thing for me... I want to do it myself but it's not in my pocket range right now... I bet I will be getting into it this year for sure! Not sure WHEN right now BUT I will do this. I am sure I will just don;t know when! :)

Danny Jetschin said in the Mikado forum a while back that his are a liitle short too but never had a problem with it being this way. I bought longer ones for peace of mind as I'm sure others did for the same reason.

Nice vids by the way. I wish I had someone walk me through the process, but I got lucky and got to be an early guini pigs for the 6003D....:P

Mine were definitely seated OK and not into the nyloc at all - DJ commented on this and said don't worry and I haven't had any troubles. See Post # 96 http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=47241&page=4

Bob

The 600 has a yellowish belt.

Static? I wouldn't worry about it unless your running a CC85HV. I run a Jazz 55 and it's the hot ticket on my 600. You may want to try a Jazz 80.

Bob

The static problem is only on the 600 and seems to be from the tail pulley being electrically isolated from the boom because of the carbon fiber tail case.
