Just started building my Ion and I am having quite a bit of trouble with one particular part not fitting. I have been sitting here for 3 hours now trying to fit the pin in the bottom of the main shaft and it WILL NOT GO IN. It fits in the collar alone just fine, it fits in the shaft just fine, it fits in the sprag housing bottom just fine....it fits in any 2 of the above mentioned fine. Put all 3 together.............it will NOT go in. I'm stumped and about to throw this thing out the window!!!!! :arggg:

I had that problem with my Extreme last year.It was the top of the main shaft, but the same problem. Look at the bottom here: http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/p945249/#p945249

The pin fits in the head-block alone, and in the shaft alone, but not when the head-block is mounted on the shaft. It looked that the hole in the shaft was miss-aligned, so I ended up enlarging the hole with a drill. Maybe this will work for you also.

yeah thats the problem...not necessarily the shaft, but one or more of the holes isnt lining up right. I had to take a break and go eat lunch but I just tried again and still cant get it to go in. I would enlarge the hole but you cant really get to it unless you go through the opposite (and threaded) end. I dont wanna mess the threads up.

Give me a call (352-383-3201) and we'll arrange to have another shaft sent out to you.

Hi Chris...thanks for the offer but I finally got it. It didnt go in easy but I managed to file away a little bit of the inside of the big black collar and the pin went in far enough where I was able to get the set screw in and slowly tighten it so the pin went in all the way. I hope I never have to change gears on this thing!!! hahaha

a file works the best , had to do the same thing on a mine too , but dont file to much because it might get some slop in there , I had a titanium shaft made and drilled the hole myself , its hard to get it in the center , looks cented , but once you try it , its a no go , 5 to 10 thousands off will cause you a headache,
even though some do fit to well , I still like the way these are put together instead of the bolt thing with threads on there ,

Just did the rotor assembly and pretty much the same thing on that too......had to use some force to get it in there. This thing is gonna be a bear to take apart!!! And what is the deal with the little "C" clips and pins with no grooves???????

hey yeh the little C clips are picky huh? but once they are on there , they stay , and its not hard to take it back apart like you think , I use a small allen and tap them right out , on one of my heads I found the pin would drive in , but turn the shaft 180 out and it would be harder or imposiable to drive in ,
