Hey Guys
the first official Stratus conversion kits started shipping today. There are options to convert your Extreme, Tempest FAI or Tempest 80-90 size model. With additional options, you can also convert .60 size Fury's as well.
If you'd like to see whats involved in the conversion, check out the Conversion Manual (http://www.miniatureaircraftusa.com/helicopterkits/1026_stratus/conversion_kit/stratus_conversion_instructions_r1.pdf)

Wow, that is the first time I saw the final instructions. That is very nice work Carey. Those are the nicest instructions I have seen included with a kit in some time. All of those nice color pictures and step by step instructions should really answer questions and make things a lot easier to assemble.
Great job,
Hello
Yes Carey, nice job on the instructions. They are much better than the older instructions(which I had no problem with). It is good to see, things just keep getting better.

I finally got my conversion ordered, but it won't be shipped until Thursday, 6/2/05 because of the availability of the new fuel tanks. It seems that the first batch of tanks didn't have enough thread and the pressure in a YS fuel system tended to cause leakage. Turned out to be quite a bit of coin since I needed the clutch driver block bearing, the recommended heavy duty clutch, and the one piece mid bearing block.

Hello
Dont forget the longer canopy mounts. Tempest canopy mounts will work but longer would be better. There is a problem with the short tail link getting caught on the canopy when flying fast sideways. There is a thread on it under MA glow.

Hello
Yes the first tanks are a problem. Mine leaked from day one. I ordered 2.75 inch orings and tried those inside the cap. It did not work so I went to a tank like the prototype had. It is the same tank as the Fury but it is square. But it sticks out the right side about 3/4 of an inch more. I will be interested to see what MA does for a tank.

I know HC and couple more of the MA Team pilots that are using OS's with Cline systems are putting the regular Fury/Tempest fuel tanks in the Spectra. HC installed one this weekend in Chattanooga. The tanks that come with the Stratus conversion will work fine with muffler pressure systems.
These big bore carbs and back plate pressure closed loop systems put about 5 to 6 PSI into the tank.
