Hello people,
im pretty new to this rc heli thing and im not sure if this is where this post should be but here goes......
I bought myself a honeybee king 2 as my first 6 channel heli, and am in the process of upgrading it, ive read up all the advice i could find and the next upgrade im fitting is a HH gyro, as my few attempts at hovering it have all been spinners, even with the gyro gain set high and lots of positive pitch on the tail rotors.
I dont know anything about HH gyros so i just went for the best one i can afford right now, a GY400 HH AVCS, i dont know if there any good but the e bay seller says it will work with the HBK2.
my question is this - the new gyro has three wires unlike the standard esky's 2 and i was wondering which number port on the reciever the extra wire plugs into ?
(i assume its for switching HH on and off ?)
the picture says channel 5 but im hoping somebody here can confirm this, i dont want to fry anything before ive flown with it  !
this is the gyro

Not knowing what reciever you have I'd say "The Main wire with the three connectors goes into your rudder channel and the single wire (Orange wire to signal) will go into your gear channel."
The output to the gyro "Not knowing the specifics on that Gyro" is controlled by the setting for your gear channel. On the AR6100 with the GY-401 I have mine set at +60 and -60. That lets me go in and out of HH mode. I actually just use the gear switch as a reset.
If your helicopter just spins wildly out of control you may have the reverse switch in the wrong position.
You can get a lot of information and learn something in the process by watching some of Bobs "Finless" videos. Even if it's a different bird, gyro, etc.... There's a lot of good data there. Everything I know about setting up a Helicopter I owe to those Videos.
This is a great forum with a lot of friendly helpful people.
I hope this helps.

i just watched the blade balancing one and i am well impressed.
i can see why you recommended him.
Thanks again,

Did you ever get this sorted out? Also its really a GY400? I thought the model number was GY401. Just wondering if Futaba updated the line with a new product.

The GY-400 is a copy product that seems to be OK. I have no idea what the rate is but it's probably an exact copy of Futaba's unit.
I just wish they'd build an exact copy of the GY-611 or CY's G-Lock for half the price :)

Actually, and I dont KNOW this for sure, but I read the GY400 is a rate ONLY gyro, NOT HH that's why its so cheap.

Hi, I'm using a telebee zoom with my king2 and it has two connectors that plug into the stock orange receiver. the 3 wire connector goes in ch 4 with the white or orange wire on top and the single wire goes in ch 5 with the wire on top.

Word of caution on the telebee gyro and the stock radio. If you plug the gain wire in it overrides the gain pot on the gryo. The stock tx gain setting are way to low in my experience and you have no way to adjust them. Just leave it unplugged, set your heli up and heading hold and forget it. To set the heli in HH with a telebee make sure your over 50% on the gyro pot. Under is rate over is HH

thanks for all the advice people,
the long and short of it is, this gyro is crap and i wish i hadnt bought it :-S
it is not a heading hold gyro, although it was advertised as one.
it is a rate gyro with avcs (whatever that is) and the potentiometer on it is for setting the limit of the servo travel not the sensitivity of the gyro.
so for noobs like me who dont own a DX7 or similar the sensitivity cannot be adjusted
i have tried everything with it and can not keep the tail still at all, where with the standard esky gyro the tail stays pretty still.
ah well you live and learn, i suppose ill just save up and get a futaba 401 or something like that, at least i know they do what it says on the tin.
thanks again for all the input.
