Downloading, I don't have an adaptor for my DX7 radio, I do have realflight 3 will their controller work? If not what adaptor would I need to get?

I've downloaded both versions and both of them start up and as soon as I see the flying field it shuts itself down?!?

Just tried it for a little bit with Realflight/Interlink controller and it looks/feels pretty good so far! Thanks!

My heli just sits there...no motor/engine running, no blades rotating...no nothing. I've calibrated my controller and assigned the correct axes. Heli-X sees my controller inputs just fine, but still no movement from the heli. I've also assigned a key to IdleUp1. Any solutions to my problem?

Same thing here? Downloaded both, and get the same result I am running vista not sure if that is what is messing it up or not.

Happened to me until I assigned keys f1 and f2 to idle up 1 and idle up 2. Normal mode does not start the rotor, idle up modes work fine. Maybe it's by design. Pretty good sim btw. Thanks

Very good sim if you consider the competition and prices! Hard to beat free. :)

I'm not about to give up my Phoenix RC; however, I will say that Heli-X is light years ahead of FMS and Clearview regarding flight characteristics. It's pretty good and I am looking forward to future tweaks to this nice free sim.

Yeah, it's in the readme file, you have to assign idle-up1 to a button or a key.

4. You HAVE to assign Idle-Up1 to a switch or a key. Otherwise the engine will
not start.

I tried this with a USB game controller, it was not recognized. I don't have an RC controller yet as I am just starting into the hobby. Should it work with a USB gaming controller? The controller is recognized by windows and works with other Sims.

Thanks,

Rayo

You may need to select it. If you're getting a "No Controller Found" message on startup then that could be a bigger issue.

To the people who made this sim, thank you very much. It's taught me that I am not ready to fly a CCPM heli in real life yet. :D Of course that didn't stop me from trying or anything because I thought my bird would behave differently. How wrong I was...

Yes I am getting the No Controller Found message. Its O.K., for now HeliSimRC is working fine. I hope to make a decision on a TX soon so that I can get away form bad habits I am sure I am forming with the Game Controller.

Hi all!
The main problems with Heli-X are bad graphics card driver. You need a working OpenGL driver. Most of time there are problem with ATI drivers. Check their Omega drivers for your ATI cards. If there's a problem with Nvidia card, try an older driver.
You can use nearly every input device which identifies to windows as joystick. Interfaces from Realflight, Reflex and others should work too.
Check permission settings if you're running Heli-X under Linux. Sometimes there are troubles because of permission...
Creating models for Heli-X is pretty easy. Much easier than Realflight or others... check the developer section for a creation guide.
Updated and new models are available via link in the download section. Have a look at it, it's really worth a try!
Hope that helps,
klaus

i got it working with a HBFP TX and the usb adapter, i configged the controller and i can fly it, [all directions are rite] but man is hard to keep any heli control and its very twitchy compared to other sims. graphics are great theres got to be something im doing wrong because im missing the boat in realism. ill play with it some more ltr and see if i can get it honed in

Ok, I have read through all of this and I am having the same issue and others with this app. On 1 PC I only get the Java app to start up the other doesn't. When it starts I configured the remote and set teh idleup1 to the F1 key. Nothing happens. I thought that my PC had plenty of power with a 1GB memory and a Celeron 2.30 GHz, but it has my CPU pegged at 100%. I tried this on a lot stronger laptop and both apps come up for about 3 seconds and then shuts down before I can do anything. Any tips would be great as I have heard that this sim is a lot better than FMS.

Hi JuhlerJ,

I have a 5 year old Pentium 4 with 1Gig of ram. The Sim work great. Make sure you download java at http://www.java.com and your video driver support opengl. My only problem with setup was to have it working with my usb FMS adapter. Now it's working perfectly with my DX6i. Dont forget to map idle up 1 and 2 to a key.. and you should be fine.

Even if it's free, it's pretty good

I upgraded my Java version and the same thing is still happening. I can see everything, but it won't start. I have idle up 1 & 2 set for the F1 & F2 keys. I have hit them together and seperate and still nothing. Along with that my CPU is pegged at 100%. Have you seen any of that before. I have button 1 for idle up 1 and button 2 for the other. On teh far right it shows that the F keys are pointing to these functions. I would think that if my video card wasn't compatible it wouldn't stay up for me. Any other thoughts?
