Hey guys,
After rebuilding my heli yesterday following a spectacular crash I am having trouble dialing in the ccpm.
Using Bob's video I get all linkage set up from the servos up, adjusted pitch travel etc but when I get to blade tracking it all gets screwed up:mad:
Basically when I adjust the ball link attached to the blade grip to get blades tracked that screws up everything I did already. In idle up at mid stick the BEST I can do +1 / -1 with blades tracked.
Watching the video it seems like the T-rex's have another set of linkages to adjust where the blade 400 can only adjust individual blade pitch via the rod between the swash and the blade grip.
I hope that makes sense.
Thanks!
Sean

Here's how to do it, pick one blade and blade grip and mark them with something (I use a silver marker, whatever works for you) this is your master blade. Adjust your pitch etc. using this blade grip only! After you have it set for 0 pitch at center stick, check the other for 0 pitch at center stick. Set it if you need to to show 0 pitch as well. Now spin the heli up and check your tracking, if it's off adjust ONLY the blade opposite of youe marked master blade. This way you'll never screw your total pitch range up.
Good luck, Alan

Thanks Alan but Im afraid I am still confused. I tried that and what I wind up with is -10/0/+10 on the master and -12/-2/+7 on the other.
That cant be good to fly with, no?

Hi Sean
Ran into the same problem myself. My spindle/feathering shaft was bent (part number EFLH1421. Yours may be something else but you should definitly check that.

Do you have both blades at 0 pitch and stick at the halfway point?
Warped blade?

this is my set up
i have 50% thrott all trim center
this is what i pulled from fineless vids to help me
if your still using the stock servos keep swah mix the same
1. center serv arms like explained
2. position swash level (i have no tool so its ass good as my eyes can see)
3. keep swash level and raise till washout arms are level with eachother i used the ball ends.
4: they should be the same but flybar frame level with the swash and washout along with the paddles level to its frame
5. now adj the blade pitch links to make them 0 pitch i use half blade like fineless
do so 90 degree out fron nose both blades on the same side ( since i have no swash leveler i check all side after to see if its level all the way around)"since one leg of mine is shorter usualy not level"
now that both blades are the same all is level now do your track as stated befor use one blade as master i usual find witch one is higher and bring that one down
usualy one blade may be +/- 1 diff mine is like +.5
now this is what ive noticed with checking the aile and elevator limits the fly bar fram rods come in contact with the blade grips
so i did multipe way to stop this, lowering swash mixes was my choice
im no expert but i sat and pulled hairs out trying to figure it out it was even harder set set up the head with the ds285 servos but figured it out eventualy
hope this helps keep some hairs on your head

Thats very helpful, thank you! What was driving me crazy was when I track the blades it inevitably changes blade pitch...I thought I was missing something. I didnt know it was ok to fly with the blades having a difference of +/-1 (although I flew twice yesterday and it seemed fine)
hope this helps keep some hairs on your head[/quote]
It has thanks!

Warped blade?
Yeah thats the whole thing. When I did your method I had one side dialed in at 0 pitch mid throttle in idle up and the other blade that I tracked to it was at +7/-2/-12

Jayman,
Check your spindle/feathering shaft that passes through the blade grips. It may be bent.
Check your main shaft, as it may be bent also. Best way for both shafts is to take them out and roll them on a piece of glass or other extremely flat surface, and see if they wobble.
As for the servo, the gears are probably stripped. Order a replacement set of gears and watch Finless Bob's video on servo repair. If you stripped on servo, you probably stripped another and don't know it yet - check the other two cyclic servos and your tail servo: listen to them as they move from radio inputs, or with the battery unplugged, try to rotate the servo arms. If you hear of feel clicking, a gear is stripped.
