I have had a CX2 for a month now and was having no problems hovering until a week ago. I needed to change the outer shaft as the gear had a few teeth ground down and replaced a couple of chipped blades in the process. When I tried to lift the heli into a hover, it started moving forward (at a fast rate of knots) and to the left. Adjusting trims makes no difference. I am using trainer gear still. When I attempt to get in the air, the front left ball of he trainer remains on the ground until I give a fair amount of additional throttle. In essence, it the heli is moving forward it is though it is out of balance. I put the unit back the way it was but the problem continues. Can someone give me a clue where to go from here.

Take off the training gear, when you go into a hover quickly get it to 2 feet or higher, just kinda jump up in the air. if everything is trimmed right you should be able to let the transmitter sticks go and it should just hang there in midair with no input. It might move a little bit but you should be able to not touch the sticks at all to keep it hovering.

Are all your trim levers centered?

Thanks for the reply. I have tried without the training gear and have the same problem. Previously I could get the heli up hovering 10 feet of the ground. Now all it wants to do is head forward and to the left. It becomes really quite uncontrollable so I really can't get it to lift any real height without having to drop the throttle before it hits the wall.
I have checked the stabilizer flybar is correctly set (including linkage) and adjusted the servos levers to be set at 90 degrees to the pushrods when trims set to the middle and controls in neutral position. Bearings and washers are correctly in place and I can not see any thing wrong with either inner or outer shafts.

I appreciate the assistance in resolving the problem.

Check your swashplate. My cx swash used to become separated and do exactly what you are saying. I simply had to press them back together and it worked fine.

Good luck!

me too.. took me for awhile to figure it out.. I end up getting the Al. swashplate instead after fixing by pressing together..

I notice that al. swashplate are bit stiff then plastic swashplate. any tips on this? far as moving. it seems like servo always fighting at idle...

the swash isn't stiff, its the ball links going to the swash that are binding, give the links a little squeeze with a pliers to loosen them up so when disconnected from the servos they can easily flop around, but not fall off.

have you tried length-ing your servo linkage with your trim tabs in the center because of your i found that i had to lengthen mine with trim tabs in center to get more throw using the trim tabs to keep it in a stable hover....you may have to experiment with the proper length you turn these out it took me awhile to find the exact position......also i moved my linkage out to second hole seems to give me a little more throw using trim tabs while still being not to sensitive to control in the house....also i have upgraded my landing gear so i dont use trainers any more they are a little more weight but the extra weight makes your heli come back to earth with the landing gear down i think they give better balance than the stock gear....my swash isnt level when im hovering you just have to take it one step at a time and i think you'll be ok.....besides this heli never really hovers for very long with out some stick input thats my finding any way......

Thanks for the replies on the problem that I am having. I will move the linkage and then go through the process of adjusting them. It is pretty difficult to make the adjustments to the linkages when the heli heads all over the place, ie it seems so out of wack. What is particularly frustrating, is that I just purchased a Lama4 and it just hovers without any problems at all.

In regards to the alternate landing gear mentioned in the last post could you please provide me with some more detail.

Did you check your swash to see if it is separated?

I have to agree. If in fact nothing is bent, ie shaft or flybar, its going to be your swashplate. Check that first. If it is seperated, I wouldn't bother just pinching it back together because it's probably just gonna seperate again. Replace it.

I had the same issue and adjusted my swash plate so that they are level. I did a full turn on one linkage and tested. It took about 10 minutes to get it perfect.

hey buddy make sure your swash plate linkage is on correctly what i mean is this make sure the long slot of the linkage is in downward position if it isnt you will not get enough travel in your swash plate to control the amount of throw on your swashplate......just a suggestion...when i first got my bird i took them off and put them on backwards and found out later when i didnt seem to have enough control over the bird with my trim switches.....just a thought.....

Has anyone had any problems with their CX2 yawing so much that it can not be contorlled? I have set and reset it many times but it continues to yaw to the right un till I have no trim left. This is a new Heli and the swash plate was separated when we got it. We took it back and the hobby store replaced the swash plate and adjuste43d the trim---but as soon as I tried to fly it at home it started yawing again---this is VERY frustrating! I am open to any ideas. I wonder if there is another defect in the machine or the control.

unplug heli and adjust the proportional with a small screwdriver until it goes away.

Thanks for the idea , but I have done all of the adjustments the way you are saying and it does not work. It may stay for about a minute and then it yaws right again. We should not have to be resetting this thing constantly and with no luck in doing so!!!! I here everyone say what a great heli this is but mine stinks. It must not have been flown at the factory as the advertising states!

hey if you really cant get this thing to work take it back where you bought it or call e-flite......this heli is never ever gonna hover for an extended period of time with out some small trim or stick inputs.....this is not like putting something in the micro-wave and setting the timer and walking away till it beeps....you really have to learn how to fly.....maybe you got a lemon...bad 3 in 1 possibly...however if you havent pranged the bird up to much by crashing take it back.....also tuning in a heli requires a certain amount of mechanical ability ( not trying to be rude ) i understand your frustration ..i went through a great deal of trial and error as well getting mine to perform...it does hover but not all by itself....however i would at least call horizon hobby cust.service and present your case...good luck....

I would take it back to where you bought it and ask them to give you new one.
If you have problem from begging they will take it back. I just mine and had same problem and they fixed it next day, and found out the battery was weak for some reason and they are replacing it soon as I bring it back to them.
