i am still learning to fly with my hurricane 550. Getting comfortable hovering in all orientations and some ff. i would like to purchase another smaller heli sometime soon but I can't seem to find anyhting that will run with just one of my hurri packs. I am using 3 cell 3300mah packs that weigh 275grams each. From what I can tell these are too big for all of the current 450 class heli's but too small for anything else. Does anyone have any ideas?

Is it the weight or the size that prevents them from being used on the 450? By the way, what kind of flight time do you get on your 550 with these batteries, (are you running the stock motor, or some other?).

I think they are too heavy and too big. I have not heard of anyone running anything this big in a 450, i figure there's a reason for that. I have the CF hurricane, stock gearing, 1100 kv gaui motor, 75 amp esc, and 13 tooth pinion. I am getting 6.5 minute flights easy, I haven't tried going any longer. BTW my hurricane is a bit heavier than most with 2.1 ounce servos and a 1500mah nimh battery

you can get almost any 450 out there and just modify the battery tray. with a trex450 the battery sits on a slant, those 3300's should fit...

They will work well with a Super Voyager E 3s, you can order it from Japan for pretty cheap.

You will be way nose heavy with those packs.

The Kong Powers, which are on the heavy side are only 195 grams.

Better to just buy some packs for the other heli.

Or buy a plank. :) 3S 3300s are great for something like an EJF Sport Jet 70 http://www.ejf.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=70_97&products_id=286

I actually am flying the packs I bought for an SJ70 in my Hurry. :)

Any 500 class heli should be good for those batteries. I fly them in an MS Stinger 6 (385 mm blades). In fact, if you are interested, I have another brand new in box MS Stinger 6 Pro fully-tuned version for sale at

BP hobbies has the BP explorer which is bigger than a 450. and it comes with a lot of metal parts. You can also bolt on a .12-.15 size nitro engine to it if you want. In other parts of the world, it is known as the blackhawk 500 by helipro.

I run 240g A123 cells in a T-Rex. It might be manageable if you use 335cm blades. If I carry a camera on my T-Rex it is considerably heavier again.

It depends what you want to do - if you're learning to fly then a 450 would be fine, and by the time you get to do aerobatics you'll be ready for new batteries anyway. How many of these batteries do you have? It says something when you want to buy a helicopter to fit the battery (my Logo kit, on offer, cost less than the batteries many people run in the helicopter).

Save the bucks for a new heli and buy more batteries for the Hurricane. Perfect heli to learn on, much more stable than any 450 or smaller heli.
