I have the ALIGN 35A ESC and the lehner 1020/17 motor.
But I'm new to this so I wonder what the heck is timing?

As you know there is three options low mid high. What is suggested for my motor? can wrong setting damage the motor?

Timing is the degrees between casing and the house of your motor. A bad timing will cost you performance, if not destroying your motor.

Please, am also intersted in this, recently i observed that after each hover session, my Align 35G Esc slightly warms up whilst the Aign Motor feels quit hot. Could timing have anything to do with this?; I use Mid Timing on my Esc. We need more info on this, anybody, please.
