I just picked up a used 30 V1. Its in great shape with some nice aluminum upgrades and a fairly new OS 32. This is my first nitro and I can't wait to start setting it up. I see alot of people converting the tail servo to a boom mount. I would like to do this as the original set up just seems to cheesy. Does someone make a push rod already to length for this conversion? If not, what are you guys using? Also it has 4 S-148 servos in it plus some cheap no name brand for the throttle. What would be good replacements for these, specifically if I were to transfer them to something like a TREX 600 in the future? Thanks for any help!

As far as the servos, while learning, if they work just leave them, upgrade when you need. I am building a new heli and just for S&G's, I wanted to compare what are in my most recent heli with what I'm putting in the new one. The servos I put in my last heli were vary good servos (at the time (about 1 1/2 years ago)) and now they don't even show up on spec sheets.

As far as moving the servo to the tail. The reason you see most Raptors with the servo there is because the space up front has been taken up by the push pull collective. In fact RCheli magazine dinged the Raptor 90 3D in their review due to the inability to mount the servo up front. As far as a push rod, there are a few web sites that sell a carbon fiber push rod where you have to assemble the ends, so just cut the rod to length, finish the ends and your done. Just be carefull with carbon fiber push rod. A fellow pilot at my flying field mentioned how a rod guide over time wore a hole in the carbon rod to the point that it almost snaped.

How do you hook up a push/pull collective on these? Any pictures?

You can get the part at http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=133240. it goes in the tail servo spot on the servo tray. It is push pull from the servo to this part but normal movement from there to the pitch arm.

Well I finally flew it yesterday. About three tanks hovering and small ovals. Still ironing out the throttle curves, but all I can say is......I'm hooked on nitro birds now:Bang!!!! This is a fun heli and I can't wait to get my next one.
