Hi folks

I had a hard <cough> landing today (I think the wind dropped at a crucial time on a low alt autorotation), and have lost a few links and parts off my head. I was wondering whether anyone has a view on which is the best metal head replacement for the placcy original. Kasama, G-Force, TT or the other one?

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers

Bill

i had the kasama head and loved it! only problem was you could only fit carbon fiber blades in the grips. everything else is too thick. so if you don't mind spending $30.00 and up for a set of blades each time you crash then i would highly recommend the kasama head.

now im running the thunder tiger cnc head components and it flies just as great. i left the blade grips and flybar cage plastic since i have so many spares. this is a really great setup and keeps the major head components strong (i.e., hub, mixer arms, flybar arms). i wouldnt change a thing.

I use the MicroHeli metal head parts. I'm very pleased with the quality and performance.

I can vouch for the Micro Heli products quality and performance as well. With my current learning curve i have only upgraded to the Precision Flybar Control System (BLUE) so i could run the Align Pro paint stirrers. Though i am a noob i could tell a huge difference in flight performance. I am not sure how to put it but it just felt more precise. Due to a recent cold morning landing i bought the CF Vert Fin and had to replace the Tail Pitch Slider and went with the CNC Tail Pitch Slider SE from Micro Heli. Again being a noob my experience is somewhat out there but i could tell that the tail was much more responsive and gave me confidence which i sorely need. Having a good product and great customer service definitely helps.

Thanks all. What links do you use with the Micro Heli stuff?

Links?
I believe everyone except GForce & TT use the Align/what should be standard M2 ballsinstead of theM1.6 TT so your link ends in M2 will need to be bought. As always you will need to check for mechanical geometry no matter what you change.

The MircoHeli rotor head components use the stock MT links. When I bought the MicroHeli stuff, I also bought the Align larger ball links in anticipation of having to use them, but I didn't need them...

I went the cheaper route with xmseller cnc head and tail (offered $135 for both on ebay and was accepted). Wasn't expecting much, but turned out loving it :)

Thanks Crabfu, does that one use Align or MT size balls?

The Sonix parts come wirh the TT size balls, but the screw threads are the proper size to use the Align size balls without tapping new threads. I have also been very pleased with the Sonix (XMSeller/ CNC Helicopter) parts. The tail pitch slider is way better than the TT part.

MT size, does not come with the links, but does come with all of the balls on the head. Sounds like you need some new links though :) I have since replaced it all with align balls and links, didn't like how easily MT links pops off by hand, but never had a problem in flight.

here are a couple of big pics, to see the head in detail:

Thanks all, nice pics Crabfu.

Sorry another question. Does the Sonix come with a feathering shaft, dampers and all the fittings needed in the bladegrips?
