I'm just getting started and I would like a 30 or 60 class bird. I also want to be able to do 3-D and not have to get a different bird. I haven't flown anything in almost 9 years. Any help would be great.

I would recommend a 50 class if you want to fly 3-D without getting a new bird. The Thunder Tiger Raptor and the Hirobo Evo are both great birds. They are pretty cheap to learn/relearn on I think the Hirobo is a little more expensive for parts, but people seem to fall in love with them when they fly them. Chances are if you've been out of the hobby a few things have changed and there will be a bit of adjustment to make and new technologies to pick up.

I would recommend the Raptor 50 V2 or the Hirobo Evo with something like an OS Hyper 50. Opinions may vary :D

For the tail consider a 9254/GY-401 combination. There are better gyro's like the GY-601(soon to be GY-611 I hear) but the 401 is great and seems to take a lot of abuse. The GY-401 is a heading hold gyro. These things lock the tail dead solid in the position you left it in(when configured right).

There are several options for a radio as well. The Futaba 9CHP is a nice setup and is a 9 channel radio, it would suit your needs for a long time. There are also several offerings from JR or Airtronics with similar features if you prefer those brands.

Hey Night Flyer,

Please check out the Gohbee Stinger 30 and 50. They are very good beginner to advanced heli's.

I am like SAR, I recommend a 50 size bird, although I learned on a 30 myself.

Check out www.gohbee.com
BTW, if you use my rep code at check out, you will receive an addtional 7% off the price.

I'm learning on a Stinger .30 with OS 37 and its a great little heli. I got 2 because I hated being grounded waiting for parts and I didnt want to give all my extra cash to Fed Ex. I figure I'll convert 1 to a .50 later and keep the .30 for a beater. You absolutely cant beat the price on these heli's and so far they've taken all the newbie abuse I can dish out.

Definatley recommend a 50 size heli. Like everyone here said, Raptor 50, Evo 50, or the Stinger 50. :)
