View Full Version : Schulze 40-160 Controller Question
I have an Actro 32-3 heli version in one of my Ions. From what I have read here, with the Schulze 40-160 controller I can use the govenor mode to set the headspeed where I want without worrying about the controller overheating like what happens with the Hacker 77-0 heli if you set the throttle curve below 80%.......is this correct? Where can I get the Schulze 40-160 for the best price?
Thanks

Ed, that is correct. The 40-160 can handle partial throttle settings no problem. It is a monster of a speed control though. Not sure where to get one for the best price.
One question though, are you wanting to run a 2 stage headspeed setup? Like 1500 for hovering and 1900 for idle up? This is the only reason I would really get one. If you just want to lower the headspeed for all around flying I would probably regear and run the system at 80% or better.
I am going to try a kontronik ESC in my Ions and see if it can handle the partial throttle settings. They seem to handle it very well on the 3dmp and logo 14 so maybe they will do so on the Ion as well.

Tabb, which Kontronik controller are you looking at for the Ion?? 55-10-32 or better??
I'm satisfied with my Hacker77's performance so far, but I do run it at 100-98-95-98-100. I just hope mine doesn't overload if I screw up in my start-up one of these days. If it does then I'm going with Kontronik FOR SURE!
