Has anyone put an Align 430L on a Stryker (F27C)? I've thought about trying it out and even tried removing the stock motor once, but couldn't get it to budge in the mount. Anyone have a trick for removing the motor?
Plus, has anyone outfitted it for night flight? It's awfully fun! :)

It's a pain in the ass do get off cuz the apply a strip of glue on the bottom of the motor and mount. Try and find something you can shove in there and work back and forth till the glue breaks, but be careful. Or if you have a HS real close just go buy another one, they're cheap.

I figured it had to be glued in there. I've given buying a different mount some thought.....It's not a huge priority, I just tinker with it when I get bored. It would be nice to see just how fast it would go wth a 430L on it.

I finally wedged that 430L in there, I flew it tonight with the 6X4 prop on it. The speed was better, but it could really use a 6X2. Level flight at full-throttle bogs a bit. Plus I don't know how many amps I'm drawing with the 4 pitch prop.

With props, you pick the pitch for the speed and the diameter for the amp draw/bogging.

I would try a 5x4 or even a 4x4. Drop the amps, but still give you the speed. The 6x2 will make noise and go nowhere (half the pitch speed).

I have a MicroJet running an Eflite Six 2700 Kv motor and it is drawing about 30 amps on a 5x4 (IIRC the prop).

I'll probably get a few options and try them out. Props are cheap, so I won't be out a whole lot. I'll likely get a 4X4, a 4X2 and see if there's any steps in between I can try out. I hate to go smaller than a 4" even though the spec sheet rates a 2X2 at 31000 rpm and somewhere in the 20's for amperage.

I've been getting around to souping up my Stryker, now that I've bashed it a few times. Compatibility with the Trex motor sounds good, I'll check this out as I work on the new heli.

One thing I've noticed with the 27c is that it's all too easy to rip out the rectangular foam section around the motor mount. "Franken-Stryker" went through this process about a dozen times, hence the handle. Ugly as hell, but I kept it flying for a long time, using Gorilla glue.

I've now built a couple more, and use the carbon rod spars from the previous fuselague to beef up the tail. Drill two holes from the rear, between the motor mount halves, into the center body, about six inches worth, glue and push in a couple of spar pieces. Works pretty well.

Now if I could just figure out how to keep the nose from getting mashed up ;-).....

That's a pretty good idea! I never thought of that as a preventative measure, I usually use the method with a coupld of toothpicks and some glue to repair foam. I never thought of using it ahead of time to reinforce it.
I haven't had any problems with that as of yet, I'll have to check it out, though.
As for the prop, I shaved the stock prop down about 3/4" on each side and re-balanced it. It came out pretty good, but it could use a little more off as it bogs just a tad more than I'd like. It's super fast, thoug!:wow2:

I just lost my stryker to a flyaway. I put a 450 Just GO Fly motor on that baby and a 35 amp castle creations sc and it was so fast it flew away. THe motor was brushless and outrunner as well, I just mounted it directly into the motor mount. Work perfectly and looked cool as hell.
