Hi guys,
It was a huge day for me at the flying field. I am now officially into forward flight. I flew two tank fulls through my Raptor this afternoon, doing circuits and just plain ole' bangin' the sticks around. NOW, I am having fun !!! My friends, Darren, Josh and Manfield were there for the fun and excitement ! Darren also rung out his Rappy 50 ! Manfield made a great save of his heli when he lost a rudder ball link during flight ! Good save !
On top of that, I hovered and trimmed out my new Hawk Sport. It is really stable and is going to be a good flyer. My headspeed is high, but didn't have a tach to adjust it. The bird looks good in the air !!

Would love to make it to Sulfer Springs, not sure just yet. I am trying to get to Huntsville this weekend, but things are working against me right now.
I will find you if I make it to Lousianna !

Hey gang,
I did a bunch of Stall Turns today with my Rappy. That is fun and easier than a regular turn.... after you get the guts to try it. hehehee
The Rappy is flying good, I need some work on my Hawk Sport. It didn't handle the wind to well today. No crashes, but really didn't fly well.
This is truely a great hobby !

You are doing well Rob
Try some Chandellers now, they help to get good speed on your turnaround.
Then check that you can keep a straight line along the airstrip ...nice and parallel.
This is importend so that when you try your first loop you will have plenty of foward speed which makes the loop a lot easier and your exit point will be in line with your strip which will help with oriontation.
Are you able yet to do nose in hovering?

Thanks Alfred, I will try that next. I am able to fly a straight level flight down our airstrip with no problems. As far as plain ole' forward flight, it is going very well. My turns were a little rough with all the wind yesterday, so when the wind is lower, I hope to get a better feel for the turns.
The main thing is that I am having fun.... nervous fun, but fun !

Charlie
Once you get comfortable with fast forward flight you will be throwing it around the sky all the time.
Just don't forget to keep your hovering exercises up and also slow controlled circuits in front and both directions. Also keep a constant training on hovering on the side you feel less comfortable with.
These are harder then most airobatics and will test your true level of control.

I have been hovering so long that now that I am actually flying, it is a new world. Thanks for reminding me to keep up the hovering practice, etc.
Have fun and stay safe !

Thanks to Alan (Big Al's Hobby Supply) and Dan Willis, for the help this afternoon. We got the Hawk flying like a champ.
I had multiple problems, but we worked them all out. Even got it set up in stunt modes, all head speeds set, tail adjusted and it fly's like a dream.
These heli's are all in setup. A beginner (newbie) like myself, setting one up is a problem all on it's own, but you learn from your mistakes and usually make huge leaps in knowledge.
I had multiple problems with the gyro setup (first attempt at setting one up by myself.... believe me I had a lot wrong) but now I know more about what I am doing (I think) !
Again, thanks to this forum for all the help, but you can't beat the hands on training of a local experienced pilot !
